can I ask a stupid question....
Very subtle.
I understand why Paul did what he did, there's nothing wrong with friendly banter and I think it should be encouraged however when someone is trying to organise a trip, get together camp out etc there's nothing more laborious and time consuming than to sift through page upon page trying to ascertain who's doing what, paid up and not paid up etc etc. That's why its a good idea to separate a friendly banter thread from a factual who's paid up thread particularly if numbers are restricted or limited to a first come first served basis to be fair.
Paul was clear and precise from the outset by having two threads, one for banter about the camp out and one for paid up attendees.
I visit other forums as I'm sure others do. There are within most clubs and forums, groups or clique of people who are friends on and off a forum / club, these tend to be regional.
I personally don't envy moderators or someone who has to moderate a thread, they are there to keep a friendly equilibrium and be unbiased but are usually shot down for deleting a thread or not deleting a thread.
It is inevitable that a moderator will upset somebody by their actions either way. Occasionally somebody will throw their toys out of the pram but after a while they usually return because of the friends they've made, common interest and the banter.
I for one don't know Paul or Mike, in fact I only know a couple of members here and I met
old rascal briefly at Goodwood yesterday.
Hopefully Mike may change his mind and join his friends for a laugh and a few beers but then again he may decide to stay home and record the royal wedding - Only joking Mike
I look forward to meeting Paul, Mike and other members on here.
Oh... lastly to answer your question, this is the banter thread and not the ticket thread so yes you can ask a question, whether it'll get answered is another thing.
