Well Today,it Happened.I got my Licence back yesterday and today took my GS for a Service.While it was being done,i took an HP2 Megamoto out for a Test Ride.

I'd looked round the bike at both the NEC and EXCEL Shows,but still took a few minutes to take in the Detail at close quarters.Climbed on board,it's taller than my 17" wheeled GS,and fired it up.Purposeful rumble from the Akropovic Can,1st gear and away.Straight away notice 1) Weight-or lack of, 2) Jeez it goes with just a squirt of throttle.Not violent,but immediate,responsive power.Out of Urban Area and onto Rural roads. No two ways about it,this bike rocks ! The combination of less weight,more power and Ohlins Suspension just make the bike a pleasure to ride.Roadholding excellent,positive when put into a corner and not ruffled by patchwork back lanes Tarmac.Bearing in mind i was a tad cautious,i'm not an ACU Licence Holder nor a Bike Journo,i rode the bike as hard as i dared on Public Roads.It really is a HOOT. But;
Get it on Dual Carriageway or Motorway and it's not so much fun.There is no Screen so you are sat bolt upright with the wind in your face.80 MPH and i'm a nodding dog.A Long Haul "at a suitable pace for making progress" will give your neck muscles a good work out.I really wanted to be blown away with this bike because even at £12.6K i wanted one.Sadly the reality for me is that the bike is a Brilliant Machine but compromised with its' focus.My GS is a bit heavier,bit less powerful and a bit more cumbersome but it will take any journey i point it at and get me to the end in comfort.The same could not be said for the Megamoto.Just to give an extra insight,when the reason for me buying the GS (a house move requiring a 40 mile ew commute) fell through i tried a KTM 950 SM thinking it might suit my needs better.That bike,too,has the same attributes and drawbacks as the MM.

Bottom Line:- Get a try on one if you can,if only for the experience !!

Some folks took a HP2 and converted into an "adventure" traveling model.

I wonder what it would do if you did the same with the MM?? Bit of a small screen (like Wunderlich). Some luggage perhaps on it?? Hmmmm :mmmm
