Nice to get on the plane and escape the simmering heat 28c in the city now, that's before entering the underground! , roll on cool Spain:augie

The advance party have arrived in a slightly cooler Spain. We eventually caught up with DK who had somehow managed to miss his flight from Barcelona. |Shortly, we'll run down to the airport to collect the main party of tossers.

The bikes and gear have all safely arrived at the villa. We managed to get Roger's un-oiled bike up the dry without seizing the motor.

Having got the domestic choses sorted, we all went out to try the local waters ....

It must have been a good session as Chris decided he wanted to sleep outdoors!

The rest of us awake to a wonderful sunrise. It's going to be a great day!

It's all falling apart at a rapid rate!

On the bikes:

  • Mine came off the truck with a flat battery (again!). Now charged up and seems to be OK
  • Jarv's bike is currently minus a front wheel whilst wheel bearings are sough and replaced
  • DK's bike had its tyres changed at midnight last night
  • Roger's bike now has a new sump plug and fresh oil and seems to be OK

On the riding terrain:

  • It seems that the park is firmly out of bounds. We have a local Councellor who is going to lobby the Mayor tomorrow morning to see if we can get dispensation. There is plenty of other riding to be done though.

Finally a couple of us wake this morning to find that the villa has no water! The rest of the crew are still sleeping off a severe late night bladdering!

It's been a hard week!

Loads of broken bikes - wheel bearings aplenty; chains coming off; chains breaking; multiple punctures; sprockets coming loose; running out of fuel etc etc

:hammer

Greg

PS just a little sauce consumed too!

Tossers –in-the-Tejeda is finally over – and what a week it’s been!

A few of us planned to meet at Malaga airport on Friday 20th Sept. Unfortunately, D K missed his flight from Barcelona and we had to leave him to make his own way to Competa.

The rest of us made our way to our rented villa and awaited the arrival of the bike truck. The bikes unloaded and a few other domestic chores completed, we could relax and took dinner at the El Mirador restaurant in the picturesque village of Frigliana.

On Saturday, a return visit to the airport to collect the remainder of the tossers - stopping off at a hypermarket for essential supplies. On arrival at the villa, everyone met each other over a glass and a light lunch.
The riding started early on Sunday morning and saw us taking a long trail to the Streambed of Death. A road ride back to the Fabrica took us to a picnic lunch. Like most other days, this was rounded off with a visit to Competa Square where our arrival seemed to make quite an impact!

Monday saw us on a run up the Stoneflume of Death and the Monastery of Death before retiring to the Lost Village for refreshments.

On Tuesday we used local intel to head towards a zoo in the mountains above Nerja.

On Wednesday, Graham Ross of Trailblazers led us on an awesome ride to Masmuller – over 80 miles of trails!! What a day!

Thursday took us to a circumnavigation of the lake at Periana. Nearly 90 miles of trails.

Friday saw us attempt a return visit to the zoo but halfpint suffered a broken chain and the day was aborted.

This was a week of hard riding but a great time was had by all. We were superbly catered for by the lovely Marie.

Roll on 2012!

Greg
