Last year there has been a rider in Germany who crashed on a motorcycle training because the ABS on his K1200S with I-ABS failed.

This year there has been another German rider but who crashed with his K1200R with Integral Brakes on the street because of a "total brake failure".

The rider crashed in the swiss alps and had serious injuries. Broken Arm, four broken ribs and six dislocated bones of the backbone. According to the report the crash happened in June 2006 and the bike was sent to BMW Munich. After one month of silence he got the information that the pressure-modulator was sent to FTE-Automotive, no more info available. He engaged a lawyer. The German authorities and prosecutor are already informed about the name and adress of the witness. It's the 14th posting here.

He said the brakes worked at least for 15.000 km properly. And he said his dealer told im in 2005 that the brakes are now tried and tested and after the recall in 2006 okay. He used sickbed for 2 month because of the brakes!!! It's the 2nd posting here

I do know of the examination of several BMW Motorbikes with Integral Brakes by experts engaged by the criminal prosecutor. A towing truck recently collected several BMW motorbikes with that brakes in question from the owners to the experts.

I thought you may have been exagerating slightly so ran a check and you are spot on. Every posting he has made over the last few years is about brakes. Obviously had a bad experience.....tell evryone about it...

On Advrider he is called DrABS. The funny thing is that he posts here and as nemezis and then quotes himself on Advrider as if nemezis was someone else. :D

Hi Nemezis

I wouldn't worry about it too much, people make up all sorts for insurance claims. There are even people who have claimed that trees jumped out at them and such daftness in their insurance claim.

Hijacks Thread :nono

If your GS is fitted with ABS what did you do when it first worked?

Me crashed (well 5MPH) into back of own car on pink pebble drive way :o

Feel free to berate :hide

you should read the links in my posting. the motorcycle was sent to Munich for inspection. It's the pressure-modulator that failed...

To all those moaning about Nemezis' posts:

If they bore you, don't read them. But don't you think that the possibility that BMW servo brake system has a higher than acceptable rate of failure is a worrying concept?

Think about it the next time you're practicing a bit of late braking for your favourite corner.... I hope its all benign, but I hope equally that if there is a fault in the deisgn, BMW address it, fixit and don't hide it....

News is that in the case of the seriously injured rider both German safety authorities and the German criminal prosecutor are investigating the case.
