Hi guys,

Im just back from the dealers where I was hoping to find a nice cheap second hand 1200GS ( fat chance ) when the very nice man asked me to sit down while he offered me some HP options.

Option1 trade-in my existing 1150GS and finance the new one.

Option2 take out the BMW deal where I pay X amount a month for the bike with a guaranteed trade-in price at the end of three years or pay off the difference or just hand the bike back and walk away.

What I want to know is what the average servicing costs would be for a R1200GS if I were doing about 8k miles a year. I know what the payments would be for the bike but don’t know what the servicing would cost so can’t work out what the TCO would be.

You should have asked the very nice man. He'd have been able to give you a service cost almost spot on.

Then maybe he would have guaranteed that service cost if you were to buy the bike from him, rather than someone else.

Got to be worth a try :nenau

I know I should have asked the nice man but didnt think of it at the time, stupid of me I know. but I also wanted to hear from others about their experience of these BMW deals.

Seems to me the BMW deal is less a question of can I afford the payments and more a question of, Im I willing to pay that amount from now to always have a less than 3 year old bike.

So far I have been very happy with my 1150 but am thinking of the 1200 because its lighter and more powerful.
