Tour de Yorkshire 2015

Something not right there. The TDf will be in July as usual, so a nice two month gap. But great news for cycling in the UK. Hopefully they'll do some of the NY moors and wolds (cutting nose off to spite face here, I wish they come last the front door again.)

JB, that was the announcement they made back in July that they were seeking UCI approval for the stage race. Dunno what stage its at. One of the UKGSer knowledgeable ones will be along to tell us soon.

Dunno Dave, just saw the announcement on my FB feed, noting the 1-3rd May dates

Maybe check the Yorkshore Tour web link above to see what's what

I'd imagine it's 3 days before the Giro, which usually starts early May.

Great news though - looking forward to it :)

Hi,

Big of a late reply, but I usually only read ride reports...... I'm project managing the Tour de Yorkshire for Welcome to Yorkshire and ASO. I was also Safety and Security Director for the Grand Depart and for the 12 years prior to that organised and led the Police Central Escort Group, the National team that moves the Tour of Britain, Olympics etc..... (I never did bikers honest!)
Would there be any interest in a social gathering where I'd be more than happy to pop along, drink beer and do bit of a chat around what it's all about. (I like the sound of my own voice ;-) )
Happy to do if there's any interest, happy if not.

Sounds very interesting. Name a date/time/location and I'll do my best to be there :)

I'm only doing the medium route, with a few friends that are cycling newbies, but optimistically put 4 hours down so expecting a late start time. The cut offs are quite tight, meaning you have to average 20km/h on a very hilly route. I heard it was about 10,000ft of climbing on the full route, which makes it similar to the Etape Du Dales, and about 6,000 on the medium route, but I can't find any official route stats

I've loaded the route into my bicycle Sat Nav but unusually it won't show me an elevation profile. I drove a little bit of the route in February & it looks far harder than anything I've done before. I've also added it to my Nav V & if I get chance I'm hoping to have a day out on the GSA doing a full recce so I can prepare myself pshycologically for what's coming.
I said I thought I would take 8 hours so I'm hoping to be away early.
