OK, I have recently purchased a Tour X Motard in black - and after having 3 other arai's I cant believe how good and confortable it really is!:D

but the question here is :

can anyone help with info on Goggles, I have never bought any before and wouldnt know the best from the worst. I have obviously heard of Oakleys, but are they any good?:eek and any good with a tour X Lid???

At the moment I've got two pairs: these Scott ones which you can see here in which I have fitted silver mirror lenses and a pair of Alpina ones which I bought a few months ago from either Busters or M&P (can't remember which).

Hi reavsie, i have recently bought two pairs of goggles.

Up 1st Oakley 'O' Frames, not a bad goggle and cheap too, can be had for around £20, easy to get replacement lenses and tear offs for. The only bad thing is that when the face foam gets wet it becomes very tatty and slightly ill fitting as a result.

2nd off i bought a pair of Spy Optics Alloy Goggles, i found these to be alot better fitting and better wearing than the o-frames, again not too dear at around £30 and they come with an anti-fog lense as standard. Spares like lots of different tinted lenses and coloured iridium ones are readily available from most mx shops. Tear offs and rip n roll systems are cheap and easily found aswell. i have been using these for about 6 weeks both on and off road and they definately get my vote! :thumb2 When these ones a for the bin i will definately buy another pair.

Here's a couple of pics of them and a link to dirtbikebitz, i have got stuff from this guy and if he has it in stock the delivery is normally pretty quick.

Hope this helps.

Good luck

Mark.

I have a pair of Scott goggles with turbo-flow lenses. These are double glazed and help a lot with misting - a big problem with single lenses in the cold when you are hot and sweaty

Same question ....sort of.

OK . I have the same question having bought a Tour X last week .

However, as a full time spectacle wearer which, if any , of these goggles would be suitable or me. Any thoguts/other goggles to recommend?

Cheers,

Ian

I'm missing something here. I've got a TourX but never contemplated goggles as it has a visor.... help me out guys.

Very interesting thread actually as I'm after some goggles for my Off road lid. What should I be prepared to pay (may see what the have at the Scottish bike show on Sunday)

Love the pictures!!

I like the Oakleys as I like the black frames (my Tour X motard is black) but the SPY ones look awsome!

THe other reason I was asking about goggles is - do they have to be tested?? i.e. road legal, just thinking if bombing around and get a large stone or something would they crack / shatter / or leave tiny pieces in your cornea:eek !!!

Andy, I wouldn't say its for show (not in all cases that is) I have had many Arai's and others (as many of us have) but i just really fancied an open face type in the summer to let the good old country air through, but was always unsure due to no chin protection, so the off road option seems best for ME!!!

But i would like the protection fo goggles to stop me getting flies etc in the eyes! if you know what i mean.

I see that most goggles are full of vents to let them breath, but would want to ride in the rain with them, thats why i have the visor!.

Plus - you have got to admit, it does look cool........my son thinks it looks like an Imperial Tie Fighter pilots lid!!!......:bounce1

I know that when I looked at goggles in my local Heine Gericke store they had a catalogue that included goggles to fit over specs. I would try that as a starting point. :thumb2

Andy, I have a pair of goggles, I wear with the Tour-X, because, I ride at night, and I can't be arsed changing my Dark visor, everytime......hope this goes someway to enlightening you, oh! yeah,

and there just for show;)

Rushy, Try a pair of SCOTT OTG's (Over The Glasses) about £20. They are based on the BEVO model which I use all the time (but with more depth) Very comfy .
I also wear glasses but change to my contact lenses when riding the bike. So long as your prescription frames are not too wide OTG's are plenty deep enough.
Re the looks, yes I think is does look good but add the benefits, Dark visor can be fitted and flipped down if encountering low bright sun,no misting and £2 to change lenses (yellow for night, clear or tinted) easy to carry replacements. Works for me!

Now that is as good a reason as any only you posted this a day late. I went out yesterday with my TourX and a dark visor, stayyed at a friends for an unplanned brew and when I looked out it was dark and absolutely p*ssing down. I had to come home over the Cairn-O-Mount where it must have been about 2 deg C and windy as hell. My eyes were stinging with the pain of the rain blasting my eyeballs........

Anyone heard of Smiths EVO goggles as I have a 2nd chance on a bransd new pair for £14

o frames are designed for specs wearers:thumb2

well i aint got a small head, but they fitted my glasses fine. Notably the foam bit seems to be cut where the arms would meet.

I could be wrong, and i guess like others its down to personal fit?
