tour x

Having heard of Schtum's addition of the Shoei Whisper Kit to the Tour X I got one and added it to Ms Cheek's Tour X and she thinks it's absolutely brilliant at reducing wind noise and drafts inside the helmet.

She was seriously considering changing her Tour X for a more "conventional" lid but would not consider it now. Definetly something to consider. :thumb

Or you could just ride when it's 20* :nenau

like me :aidan

I live in Thailand, so the visor is a major plus for me.

I also find the fit ( again for MY head ) very good.

It's not the noisiest or quietest of helmets that i have had over the years.

No problems with the visor at any speed, at all.

Find is as waterproof as any other helmet that i have had, but it will let a trickle in if it is raining hard or long enough, and it can rain here at times too !!

I think the choice of interior trim / fabric is awfull, if you don't shave for a day your stubble will turn the blue mesh fabric to fur !!

The paint finish is of very poor quality too, you only have to look at it hard and it will chip !! Sure, it's shiney and the colours are good, but chips and scratches soooo easy.

I don't doubt the protection that it offers, but the standard of paintwork and the interior fabric is of the lowest quality available on most any helmet.

Aria, get your act together.

SteveBC.

but don't Arai do different shells sizes for different continents? :nenau

Maybe you're a Jap though :D

I have just ordered the whisper kit and hope is as remarkable transformation as suggested.

Any suggestions on how to stop the visor fogging?

On my shark I have the excellent photoreactive fog city, but they don't make one to fit the unique tour-x shape

Cheers for that info, read your link Big Lee was quite a persuader, I will give them a go at the wk end or when ever I next get the bike out, :thumb2

Aria TourX v BMW Enduro helmet

I was considering buying a Tour X but having read these comments I`m now not sure.

My second choice was BMW`s own Enduro helmet.

I would be very interested to know how it compares with the Tour X.

And can you also get a dark visor for the Enduro.

Personally I'd stick with your first thoughts and get the Tour X, Had 2 myself and they are great helmets and very comfortable.

The shape of Enduro helmets causes the increased airflow whether it be Arai or BMW and I prefered the Tour X over the BM version as the peak was more "rigid" and it fitted me better.

As I said this is a personal opinion, go try both and see what you think. :thumb2

The Tour X vents are very easy to inadvertently click open and let a howling gale in during winter so I use Duct tape to cover mine, they mist up very easily but a standard Fogcity fits without problems and finally they do work at speed - I only have a very small screen on my HP2 and often take it to 200km/hr with a Tour X on, only issue is the helmet is noisy at that (OK at any!) speed.

How much are these whisper strip kits from shoei ??
I love my tour X but slightly buffety, visor is best thing ever for keeping the sun out. waiting to get an MRA screen for general improvement with any helmet.
had a multitec on my head the other day hhmmmm, when does santa come :augie

About £25.

We picked one up when I was getting a Multitech.

Don't want to go off topic but for someone with an Arai head this is the first Shoei I've ever been able to wear and it's awesome

Well when I put the multitec on my head, instantly it felt perfect, no need to keep it on my head for 20 mins to see if it was gonna be a good fit or not, hmmm lovely. How many helmets is a biker allowed again, need the official figure for the missus :D

Well I have four (admittedly three of them are old with one well past the sell by date). Multitech for me next time I think.

Multitec

Got the new Shoei Mutitec this summer and loved it. Easy to wear with Good Shaped Sun glasses and keep it flipped up for that wind in your face (open Face) effect. Then down for the 50mph+ blasts on the GS. Whisper kit and Spare light tint visor came in the box. Noisier than my quieter Shoei Raid, which I use more in the winter (which is better than my XR1000 in every way). Whisper kit only helps compensate for the extra noise over the Raid and is much more useful as a winter draught excluder kit. A Great Practical lid for the GS rider.

I am looking for an Arai Tour X now, for the style to be honest. Charley and Ewan's fault methinks :augie

The wife gave me the few hundred to buy it for my Birthday & Xmas. Now, anyone know where to get a good cheap one or else I'll have to put money to this and say nothing! ;)

Bikers Bargains
do the best deal on a Tour X in the motard style at £239.99, and they are genuine UK versions not imports. :aidan

You might want to have a look at the Shoei Hornet which is due out in the UK any time now.

Similar style to the Arai Tour X.

The Shoei UK web site has all the details (sorry haven't got the link to hand).
