After an off last year, the nice people at the insurance company replaced my TX3 with a nice shiny new TX4.
I was very happy as I loved the 3...all day comfortable, took my comms well and quiet enough for me behind my GSA screen.
The first impressions of the 4 was...no difference to the 3 other than a giant leap in price. Not a problem for me as I wasn't paying!
However, the 4 does have one alteration over the 3 that for me has rendered it useless. The cheak pads on the 4 are a different design. Rather than providing a snug fit against your checks, they have a plastic lip in them the run under the jaw.
When you first try the lid on all feels OK. However, being of the square jawed variety (fat head) after about 90mins the helmet becomes extremely uncomfortable under the jaw ......where all your nerve endings are.....doh! To the point where it becomes a distraction.
Tried replacing the cheap pads from a 3 ....don't fit. Tried taking the pads out, warming them and placing a weight on them to release the pressure....no good.
So, the morale of the story here is that if you are in the market for a 4 take up Arai's road test offer and make sure you give it a good go.
Sadly, it is the end of the road with me and the 4....so if any body wants a pristine white XL, hardly used and less that a year old...let me know BUT try one out first.
Cheers
