The front Tourance EXP on my GSA is knackered in just 3600 miles. Anyone else had an EXP wear out as quick as this ?

Yep, thats not at all unusual for the XP's, they have a very soft compound.

The original Tourances are just as grippy and last much longer.

And the new Taurance Next is even better apparently, with a duel compound rear.

:thumby:

Sounds a bit extreme, my standard GS, has EXP's on from new and I replaced rear at around 5-6k, but front still going after 9k although due for replacement a bit squared and some smalls cracks in rubber, but still legal.

But likely to depend on riding style and conditions, I do a lot of long distance commuting (with significant motorway stretches) and often in wet conditions.

With my last bike I would go through two rears for one front, although looks like I will need to change front on the GS before the 2nd rear is shot. I'm thinking of trying Tourance Next's this time!

My 2011 came with EXP's rear was goosed at 3000 and the front was not far behind it

Just replaced the front one on mine. There was still tread left but it had worn flat on the centre following some motorway miles around Europe.

New original Tourance being fitted tomorrow at Duncan Park, East Kilbride. I've been told the mix of tyres will be ok. Rear is an EXP with only 1000 miles on it. The first rear EXP picked up a big nail on run to Holy Island. At 2500 miles it was already looking a bit square.

I find the GS heavy on front tyres, I would generally expect nearly 2 rears to one front but on the GS the front barely lasts as long as the rear (Tourance EXP). Personally I would not have a front tyre that was less grippy than the rear.

Same here after a run around Europe the front EXP had really squared off and i'm finding that my TKC80's are lasting longer!

EXP does stick to the road like sh*t to a blanket though!

FP.
