Has anyone seen this Motorrad tyre test, got a link to it or translated it as I'd like to read it? On Metzeler site is says..

"The Tourance Next was put up against rivals Michelin Anakee 3, Bridgestone Battle Wing 501/502, Continental TrailAttack 2, Dunlop Trailmax TR91 and Pirelli Scorpion Trail. All of the tyres tested were used in the 110/80 R19 and 150/70 R17 sizes and mounted on six Triumph Tiger Explorer motorcycles.

...In the end, the Motorrad testers voted the Tourance Next as the best enduro street tyre because it is the one that demonstrated the best balanced performance in all the conditions taken into consideration during the tests, specifically thanks to the excellent performance in the dry combined with the excellent wet advantages too."

Yeah, that's the one I mentioned in another post. Seems they spread their articles all over Greater Germany.

Interesting too, that they did a 2 stager - new tyres and after 4k km .

Many thanks :beerjug:

So it appears their conclusion on the 4k tyre test is:

1st. Tourance Next
2nd TR91 Trailmax
3rd Trail Attack 2
Joint 4th Anakee 3 & Scorpion Trail
6th Battlewing 501/502

I'm guessing that the tyres used in the test weren't the initial batch with the softer compound:augie

Using the logic that 99% of tyres are better than me, rain or shine, I need to therefore look at the wear rates and the Anakee 3 comes top.

I think this is the same test which last year concluded that the Dunlop Trailmax's came first followed very closely by the Trail Attacks. They ran the test on GS's.

On the strength of that survey I went for the Dunlops and have been really pleased with them. However, I can't really tell the difference between them and the Dunlops. Both are very good.

I don't know how the Next compares with the EXP, but I had EXP's before the Dunlops and was very dissappointed with them. Chopped them in we'll before they were worn out because the handling became so bad. If I go back to Meztler I shall be sticking with the standard Tourance!

I did read this article translated in the BMW owners club monthly magazine. Yes the Tourance Next came first but only just ahead of the Dunlop TR91 because it had a better wear rate. I have been running the Dunlop tyres for about 5000 miles now with minimum wear on my 09 GSA in all weathers and wouldn't swap them for anything. Interestingly the Anakee 3 was criticised for its road noise which has been mentioned in a post elsewhere but to be honest 99% of the time these tyres are all very good.

Agree, I have been running TR91s for about 6000 miles...rear is now squared off but has done allot of motorway miles....impressed and will go for the same again.
