Well , nice surprise for me , decided to try the Tourance next on my spare wheels and im pretty impressed.
They grip really well and are stable , okay only used them on a 300 miler but I could not get them to move at all on a selection of fast sweepers and tight twisty sections
My only worry is that the front is now completely off the edge but the rear has about 3 mm left on the edges
Has anyone used these is Spain as thinking on trying a set but worried on the front limit , I ask as the roads as we know in Spain (Pyrenees) are hotter , more abrasive and a lot more corners.

I used these tyres in Spain at the end of May in unseasonably hot conditions and had no problems whatsoever under all day heavy braking and acceleration. I haven't had a tyre that doesn't move around a little bit under those conditions. Like you, I like the grip and feel, so much that I've bought another rear and I'm hoping the front will last two rears. I also like the wet weather grip and feel. They wear quicker than AK3s but are on a par with PR4s - obviously that's with my riding style.

'My only worry is that the front is now completely off the edge but the rear has about 3 mm left on the edges.'

Can you elaborate what the above means? What mileage are yours at?

The front tyre has no unused rubber left , the rear shows about 3mm of unused ( the edges) only done 300 miles so far.
I have used the PR5 in Spain but they only lasted 1200 miles ( 5 days ) + the 150 miles of slow riding to get back to the lorry in Barcelona
Prior to that the Conti TA3 , which lasted the trip 1800 miles but were change when back as the side wall gone on the front.
All the above solo , minimum luggage .

AK3? is that Anakee, or something else? Using Tourance Next at mo' on GS12 LC & like them but always interested in longer life. Had Anakee's on a F700GS few years ago & liked them

TIA

I've just come back from Northumberland after a few days away and my Anakee 3's are coming off today as I just don't like them, especially in wet slippery conditions as to me they offer very little feel. My previous GS had Tourance nexts on them when I sold it and I preferred those as they seemed to steer quicker and had a more confidence inspiring feel to them. Each to their own though as each riders preferences are different :beerjug:

Ditto on that , used them once on a trip to the Dolomites , never again as slipped my way thro Belgium as it was a semi wet trip and spent the rest of the tour wondering about grip etc and made me nervous.

I had NEXT on my old 1150 gs, the only time that a front tyre has worn out before the rear.
Fitted for a Spain Morocco trip last year. Lots of twisty bits and lots of hard braking.
I liked the tyres though :thumb2

Stick, what did you think of the CTA3, have you tried the PS2 ?

I did try the CR3 twice but just could not get on with them , I felt the front turned slow and did not suit me and made the bike awkward.
The TA3 and CR3 have similar rear profiles but the front TA3 has a steeper profile than the CR3 which for me makes the TA3 turn better and find them good.
The Tourance however has a more rounded front profile but a steep rear again this works well as both work together , I felt the CR3 with both rounded profiles front and rear made the set lethargic to pace riding. (good grip tho)
Not tried the PS2 yet but they are on my list.
My favorite would be the PR5 but they just don't last at all so no good on a trip of more than 1200 miles

Quite an old tyre now, but still a very good one.
i have 2 new rears and a new front in my tyre pile, so no doubt will be going on my 1250 soon

You need to get your finger out! :rob

I'm lucky if I get 500 miles out of a set of tyres on my bike, as I'm such a riding god. :D

Wondered where you had been , now now sit back , relax , ponder on you comments .
Surely it was more like 400 as you ride the master bike:comfort

interesting thread - I have just put some Tourance Next on my '16 GSA ahead of an alps trip in a couple of weeks - not ridden it yet though. Looks like I made a decent choice.

You should go have a ride and make sure they are fitted ok, so no surprises before......;)

Yes, AK3s are the Annakees. They are OK and last a bit longer than the Tourances. Some people think they are a bit noisy but I haven't found that. The OP is getting serious tyre wear so I suspect his riding style is somewhat more, ahem...............aggressive than mine.

I'll be trying PR5s next to see if they are better for me than the Tourances, which I really like.

very true and I will do - only refitted the wheels to the bike yesterday and it was torrential rain from then on in!

Thank you.Have read various comments, will stick with T Next

Bit of an update , now done 600 miles on these tyres an for some reason the front has developed a vibration thro the tyre , not sure why yet as will check for balance , but it may be due to the wear in the tyre due to braking.
The 600 miles has mainly been done on Welsh B roads so the surface is rougher than most and there is a lot of hard braking on uneven surfaces so this may have an affect to accelerate the wear.
The tread design may be the reason but will see.
Re fitted my other wheel set ( Conti TA3) and have no vibration..
