Due to poor planning on my part, I've ended up having to use a BMW dealership to put front and rear Tourance tyres on my 1200GS when it's in for a service. In the past I've always used an independent but, for various reasons, this wasn't possible this time. At £230 for the pair and the rear wheel coming off as part fo the service, have I been done-over or is that a reasonable cost? It seemed a bit pricey to me but accept that the highly skilled tyre changing dealership technician will be billed at around £90 per hour.

On Ebay £164.99 Delivered,
Then fitting,£20ish for both.
=£184.99.
Would say, over the odd's abit. But it's done now and you have peace of mind that a dealer fitted them.

I typically pay £230 for a pair of tyres (TR91) fitted at an Indi so think that's pretty good from a main dealer.

Tyres have recently gone up, £164.99 VAT inclusive is cheaper than I can get the tyres, £16.66 plus VAT for all the work seems a bargain! :augie

£240 ish from an Independant, front and rear, ride in and out fitting, reckon you're about right there.

Mine are the Tourance Next, crackin bits of rubber so far!

Alternative to Tourance?

It sounds like I've not been turned-over as much as I thought! However, as I've not yet had the tyres fitted, I'm wondering if I should move on from the standard Tourance as I never take the bike off road. Tourance Next and PR3s have already been mentioned. Any advice on alternative/more suitable options than the standard Tourance greatly appreciated. Thanks

If your 100% tarmac and tesco, PR3s are way out in front of anything else out there. Do a google search and read the reviews................simples.

Erm, I prefer the Roadsmart II :aidan

Tourance Next are lovely in the dry and wet on the new LC - If I still had my TC I would definitely given them a try.

Just waiting for a price on front and rear Tourance Next. Reviews are good and I like the (cosmetic) look of the tread pattern.

I've done about 2 1/2k miles on the Tourance Next. £240 fitted. I found them to be very neutral and stable from the outset, good grip in wet and dry. I don't think they are as quick steering as the PR3 but that suits me. They are supposed to give the same level of performance as the EXP but with the longevity of the older model. Don't think they've been out long enough to put that to the test yet.

The new Metzeler Roadtec Z8s got a slighlty better review than even PR3s in a recent comaprison test I read somewhere...cant remember where.

Me again :D going of topic slightly.
Went to Maroc recently:)
Fitted Heidanu's k60s..
1/2inch tread (I measured it) still got just over 1/2 again left,
Not good to much on sand but once bedded in there great for everything else.that goes under them :thumb.

That seems about right to what I've been charged from a dealer :nenau a pair of tyres for just over £200 is a fair price I'd say. I'm sure you could get them cheaper, but you certainly wasn't robbed in my opinion :thumb2

Seems reasonable to me. In my experience of tyres with dealers, they are not changed by mechanics, but by lesser staff more akin to tyre monkeys. Wheels are very easy to take on and off on a GS, even the front.

Tourance Next

I've just got a price for Tourance Next. They're £281 fitted (at a dealership) inc vat. I've read a few reviews online and previous comments suggest they're an improvement (for road use) on the Tourance. An extra £50 is significant but I might give them a try. If anyone has any thoughts on why this might be a bad decision, please let me know.
