Tourance tyres: have I been done-over?

I've run about 10 pairs of Tourances on my bikes since getting my first GS. Wouldn't have anything else.

Tried Tourance EXP a couple of years ago and didn't like them. Profile of front more pointed and made bike drop into corners too quickly for me, I preferred more of a roll in. So I returned to the original Tourances.

Got me a set of the Tourance Next tyres fitted to my 2010 GSA at the start of the month and am loving them. So much more stable through corners. A real improvement on the originals and making me enjoy the bike a lot more.

Ride in ride out price was £190 Including VAT and I was offered the original Tourances at £15 cheaper. So I'd shop about a bit if I were you!

This was from a large independent tyre supplier in Northern Ireland, which prob is a little bit out of your way..

With reports like this and those of others, I'm getting the feeling that it's worth forking-out the exrea dosh for Tourance Next. There are clearly some great deals to be had in Northen Ireland but, sadly, I'm still stuck with getting mine from the dealershp. But next time I'll try to be a bit more organised and might have to integrate a tyre change with a trip over the Irish Sea. Thanks
 
I've just had Tourance esp's fitted today. We'll be in uk next weekend and in the past its been cheaper to get them done there.

I rang the Ktm dealer in Colwyn Bay, he quoted me £120 + £90 front and rear tourances and then said they'd charge labour at £60 per hour so price depending on how long it took them to change the tyres:eek

Then I rang the guys in Romford(name escapes me now), we got our last tyres there. He quoted £248 fitted.

Chap down the road in Dublin did them today for €265 which is roughly £226.

I'm delighted to get them here as it is easier for me:clap
 
Buy them off ebay and fit them yourself.

Not difficult to do and the tools required pay for themself in no time.
 
Supplied my own. Independent mechanic charged me euros 53 to fit front and rear. That was ride in ride out. I thought that a tad too much.
 
Rear tyre puncture last Friday, replaced with Tourance EXP at Clarks BMW for £150 - saved my Bank Holiday trip to the Llyn peninsula! :thumby:

Two weeks ago had a pair of "standard" Tourances fitted in preparation for a trip to Ireland. £176 fitted to loose wheels @ Bike Tyres Leeds.

Maybe I've just been unlucky but I've had two punctures on brand new rear Tourances on different bikes within the first 250 miles in the last two months. The second one wrote off the tyre and I had to pay £240 for another new one. 99% on road riding.
 
Why Tourance? I've just had a Michelin Anakee 3 fitted by Trevor Richards of Pontarddulais Tyres fitted to the back of my '04 GS for £103. I would recomend Trev to anyone as he is so gentle with the bike, uses plastic cushions to protect the rims, doesn't bang the wheels about on the balancer etc. The tyre is good and handles completely neutral on the road (it's not an off-road tyre) and as far as I can see his prices are in line with the best. And he's only three-and-a-half hours from Leicestershire! Make a day of it and have a rip round some of the best roads the UK has to offer. Bloody hell, I sound like an advertising agency: I'm not, honestly.
 
Motorrad at Dalkieth are doing a pair of normal Tourances supplied and fitted for £215.
Not a bad price for a main dealer.
 
Just had Anakee 3's fitted to loose wheels inc balancing £202 all in from Nat Tyres in Barnsley, first time with Anakees, seem to be noisy esp bout 60mph, time will tell if I like them.
