Has anyone tried the Tourances EXP' ??? i just got a set fitted on the 12gsa and they feel great, BUT after the garage had fitted them they said that people dont usualy want these they prefer the original tourances, GREAT! just when i was feeling good the Ba**a*d says that. so what have i done? have i got a crappy tire or what ? i know its often personel preference but any advice would be great.. Have the original Tourances on the Dakar so know they are good but what of the EXP??????

great choice of tyre :thumb2 true they dont last as long though got 5k from my last set better changing as a pair as the sides of the front tyre go as quickly as the rear ,,have used these on the ring excellent grip in all conditions very confidence inspiring they may not last as long but what use is an extra few quid when your sliding down the road on your arse :D

If you never go off-piste why not just fit one of the several excellent road-tyres that suit the bike and hence benefit from both high milage and good grip?

Ive got tourance EXP's.. 08 GSA and have up until now been riding rice rockets with the latest softest tyres one could possibly find.....

Busa 1500 smiles to a rear tyre
K5 Gixer 1000 3000 smiles to a rear.

EXP on GS 5500 smiles on a rear..... (they are cheaper too)and are awesome in the wet.

Yes they dont do a gazillion miles but they in my opinion do offersports like grip for a tyre which is also ok on loose surfaces (not deep Mud)

I'm so confident im gonna do some track days on them this summer in the advanvced group !!!!!!!!! should be fun..... Ill post a pic of the melted tyres..

Run Anakees, Battlewings, exp and now just fitted Conti trail attack. Its all about feel! The battlewing where the worst after half worn, no feedback at all,

Anakees had too soft a sidewall and was wobling all over the place plus the rear was shot by 5500km.

EXP was consistent, good grip, little slower to turn provide the same feedback from new till the end. Only problem was the front edges were worn down while the center was ok.

So far the Contis are the best I have tried. Mind you this is all dry weather riding.

I'm over the moon with the EXP. But then, I prefer grip over mileage. Very flickable, excellent behaviour and grip in dry and wet, absolute fun, in short, best tyre for me.

The old Tourance wins hands down on mileage, but isn't as flickable, and didn't inspire the same kind of confidence. No major flaws, though, and that's probably why so many riders prefer 'old' Tourance.

i had heard that these were taken off the market because of issues with the compound cracking, how true this is i dont know:nenau
but a friend has beasted a set in around 5k on a 1200 gsa

I replaced the original rear Anakee with a Tourance at 7500miles and the blooming thing needs replacing and the bike has only done 11000miles!!

I didn't think I was hard on rear tyres but on looking just now, yes it is the EXP version!!!

Ah well, I need to replace both now and am thinking about a road going version......

This thread does not actually say, but can you still get the original Tourance??

My EXPs came off at 5500m. Could have got another 1k but off on a trip so didn't want he hassle of changing midway.

Good grip, nice im wey but rather noisy and front showed edge wear very quickly.

Trail Attacks now - so good so far. Less sticky in wet but stable and quiet.
