Touratech ACE (ESA) Shocks for R11XXGS

Looking through the latest touratech catalogue and I noted with interest that TT are now doing electronic suspension for the R11XXGS range. The system is apparently designed by the same team that did the D-ESA system for the hexheads onwards.

It certainly looks like an interesting system but at 3K I have to wonder who the system is aimed at - they surely can't be expecting to sell many systems which makes me wonder why they went to the hassle of developing it in the first place?

Anyone here planning on splashing out?

Maybe an adaptation of existing stuff? It's called "Up-pricing" I think? Take a standard item, faff about with it, add £500 or so. Bingo! Can't imagine Touratech going down that line though!

It would be cheaper to make up a custom powered hydraulic system to change preload on the fly. TBH far more handy than on the fly damping changes offered by ESA systems.
