Touratech Aventuro Helmet

Those of you who may have followed my problem with the above helmet, I can assured all that Touratech came through and the noise problem has been solved.

Touratech sent it back to Germany as they requested, a new one was duly returned to me with the my autocom reinstalled, Whatever was up with the other one (very noisy) this one is quiet. Looks the same as the one returned bar some transfers. Now delighted with the helmet, looks great. Thank you Touratech, both here in the UK and in Germany for your quick service.

Have you any idea what caused the original helmet to be so noisy?

Afraid not, asked but didn't get an answer but whatever they did or improve, the new one they sent is so much quieter. The original one I purchased, you've had splitting headache after a few miles.

I have a Schuberth S2, my third Schuberth, and it's very noisy as well and much worse than my previous 2 which were nice and quiet. In fact its the noisiest helmet I've ever owned; it seems to resonate with the exhaust. After your experience I think i'll take this up with Schuberth.

My BMW System 6 lid also has an annoying resonance with the exhaust. I thought it might be due to it facing exactly backwards and the pulsations somehow reflecting forward. So I got 2 large 35mm copper endfeed 45 degree fittings with a short piece of pipe and with a slight taper jammed it tightly into the exhaust. The sound is now directed more downward. The copper colour has changed to a silvery colour, maybe due to the heat? The result is a great reduction in the resonance noise.

That's thinking outside the box, not the prettiness but if it works, it works.

You may find that running elbows would work (female one end, male the other).

My Akra has two 50mm outlets. At town speeds it's fine without ear plugs. At higher speeds are too loud so I use ear plugs. But, the front wheel tyre howl is also quite a din so rear plugs are needed anyway.
