Touratech crap for my GS1150

I've been browsing the touratech catalogue for my GS1150. I keep thinking about buying different stuff to help when going hard off road which I plan to do, lot's!
All I'm interested in is what is actually a useful and protective help for my bike.
Any suggestion's on what to buy?
Really worried about damaging it off road. But it was designed to go there, so it will do!

Saving the money and spending it on replacing any actual parts that you "might" break will work out cheaper. :D

Plus the chances are the parts will still break even with the TT stuff fitted :augie

How do you define "going hard" ?

If you really want to spend some pennies, may i suggest you have a nose through rugged road website for some great bits of kit and usually lots cheaper than TT. Run by GS riders on this very forum, quite a nice bunch with it :thumb2

Agreed, non of the 'protection' TT parts of of much use.:blast

For offroad, use the standard handguards, Hepco and Becker crash bars, make your own steering 'hard part' I used a piece of old tyre others have used a 50p door wedge.
Bolt an alloy plate to the front of your sump guard to protect the engine cover and Bob's your uncle:thumb

Put your saved dosh towards private health care:D

I intend to use it for starter's to go greenlaning in northern france/belguim/luxembourg in march. I have a honda dominator with no fairing on and I can get it just about anywhere on a greenlane anyway. I was brought up on trial's bikes so enjoy doing slower more technical section's but my main objective is to be able to get it anywhere without slowing anyone else down...

I keep thinking about getting the shorter ratio 1st/6th gearbox for it. That isn't a protection thing though.

Trials background is always useful on a GS off road, As others have said just get on and ride it, its generally stronger than the bits you bolt on, they are mainly to protect the cosmetics.:thumb2
 
That seem's to be the general opinion. Only thing I have heard from an X GSer is that on the front master cylinder apparently when you fall off and onto it, it can bend/undo the banjo and thus leave you brake-less!???

Yep, just keep the right tool handy to nip it back up:)

Gearboxes are dear.The easiest way to drop the gearing is to put a final drive (the bevel box) from an 1100 or the 850.

I'm sure its too low loz did it on his1150, standard box is fine never had a problem myself and my 1150 was ridden offroad all the time :thumb
