Touratech Engine bars

Daft question (no instructions).

Just bought some 2nd hand touratech engine bars, which were a little tatty, so Ive popped em in for a shot blasting/painting etc. Anyway, I digress. When it comes to fitting them, anybody know if I need to remove the bottom bash plate to fit them underneath, or do they go over the top of the plate?

Any info greatly received.
