hi
i have just fitted a touratech ldc extra low seat on my new 90th adventure and there is a gap of about 3-4cm between the tank and top of the seat.
you can clearly see the battery if you look from above.

what could be wrong please?
i have double checked and the seat is latched properly- front and back.
the seat pan appears exactly the same except that the touratech has no adjustment option and the standard seat has SHAD embossed on the pan.

thank you

Thats funny I have the same seat and its a snug fit up against the tank. I would have said not correct into front mount.

would you have a picture please?
is yours a post 2010 adventure please?

thank you

I have a 90th Anniversary GSA, 2 months old and the collar that is fitted to the front of the seat is a very snug fit up against the tank bag rear mounting point. My bike is in hibernation at the moment under cover.

You can clearly see how close it is. :thumb :comfort

might i suggest the op has the adjusting bar set to high front and low back, this gives a gap at the front iirc

Ive got a Kahedo extra low (made by Touratech), so no adjustment possible, the main body of the seat is about 3-4mm off the tank but there is a soft collar/lip between which seals the gap and keeps the rain out.

I'd just ensure the front end is correctly aligned which the guides.

hello Delboy, thank you for your picture, i must have missed something but even the technician that was running the pdi checked it out for me and told me it looked strange - i have quite a gap.

hello gossy, by aligned you mean the front hooks are hooked in their grooves? yes i made sure about that.

i received a call from the dealer yesterday and told me that during a pre delivery software check they found i have a faulty fuel gauge, might be software issue.
in fact they put in 10l of fuel and it was still showing fuel! on the display - i cannot understand how BMW can send a new bike with a faulty fuel gauge.

have you ever heard of something similar?

thank you

Hi Vteec - You say on your other thread it had 14km on the clock - so its been ridden/tested, as its a float it may be simply stuck, so why not fill up and start again - also put up a photo of the seat edge (you'll need to pay £12 subs but you'll more than gain over the year).

hi maybe its less than 14km, the bike was not ridden for more than 500 metres just to add fuel at a nearby station, i was with the dealer all the time from uncrating till when they went out for a few minutes to get fuel.

i do not think it has a stuck float because they have fuel strips from 2010 onwards or?

thank you

I thought it was the other way round but................:blast i could be wrong :augie

hello, you are all correct the latest ones have a float not strip.
i am now thinking that it could well be a stuck float or/and need re calibration by the dealer.

thank you for all the replies.

delboy, glossy
i have spent some more time fiddling with the seat and if i try to push it towards the seat to close the gap, it will not latch at the rear.

but also i was trying to fit the standard seat back on and at the first attempt i managed to hook it in place but i had a similar gap at the front!
i removed and rehooked and it was perfect -no gaps....

am i doing something wrong?
i mean i just need to hook the front and gently press down the seat... i cannot understand

please help :)

Vteec.

Just to clarify, my seat is a Kahedo extra low, and it slips in better than the stock seat - don't have to tilt or use a special movement to engage and lock.

I also used the self same seat on my 2009 GS, occasionally when the seat was being put back I ended up with a gap - didn't look right sometimes 5-6mm, the rear of the seat would push down on the lock bar but... I could still lift it out as it wasn't locked.

My mistake - at the time was that the front was not set correctly on the guides, took me a few goes sometimes.

I think you need to get down close, make sure the catches are in the guide rails then give the back a good thump.

As I said on my first post there is a lip/seal at the front edge of my seat.

I'm happy to go and look at mine but not sure how this would help!

thank you Glossy!
at first i was sure the touratech seat is defective but now that i placed the original first time with the gap then it slotted without a gap am feeling stupid :)

will try again with the tourtatech -MUST get rid of the gap :)
