Hi anyone purchased or tried a Toutatech extra low seat i understand they are 20mm lower than bmw low seat.
I would be interested in any comments good or bad:nenau
Its a real pain only having a 29in inside leg.

I haven't tried to Touratech low seat but I do have a 29.5" inside leg

My GS has the factory lowering kit and I usually (but not always ride) with the Daytona boots that have internal heel lifts. Can ride comfortably with this setup and even replaced the BMW low seat with the standard seat and find this OK too.

Just putting in my 2p worth with another option - which is admittedly not much use if you already have a GS or are looking at a second hand one.

One major point about the Factory lowering option - you can't have ESA and the factory lower option - but then you couldn't if you Wilbers or Ohlins lowered either and at least you get pre-lowered stands with the factory.

i have the TT extra low seat..........very comfy can do 250/300 miles and no bum ache.............makes a big difference can get the balls of my feet on the floor.............:thumb

i have a kehedo extra low seat (same as the tt one i think):rob
i have a 30" inseam and can get both feet flat with this seat:augie
good for 300 mile days easy if you can get the extra low seat
it will transform your enjoyment of the bike by giving you extra
confidence at low speed and parking etc. :thumb2

I have one and it's for sale if you are interested ...

PM me

Your right about the Kahedo, they make the seats for the GS range for TT and Wunderlich, good quality seats and not as wide as the Sargents or Corbins.

My friend has one and rides an 1200gsa he's 5' 3'' !
Rode to Croatia with him on my standard seat and I suffered more pain in the arse than him. No the misses didn't come with:)

Thanks for that folks.
I havent ordered the bike yet.
I would like the GSA so would my wife Jo.
We intend to spend as much time travelling as possible over the next few years.
The seat height is not a problem riding solo,it just feels very uncomfortable on uneven roads with Jo on the back as when we stop i am on my very tip toes, even with BMW low seat fitted, no problem on the gs.
I would like ESA so that would rule out any form of lowered suspension.
I might bite the bullet order the GSA and see if some kind sole would let me try their TT extra low seat before i shell out for one.
Any further ideas suggestions or opinions gratefully recieved.
Cheers Owlie.

Hi,
I have a 08 GS lowered frame. It comes with the BMW low seat (non adjustable)
I purchased a TT extra low seat as it states that it is lower than the BMW low seat.
It is EXACTLY the same height. The base used by TT is identical to the BMW Low seat even done to the part numbers and date stamp!
I sent the seat back to TT for a full refund + all my postage cost.
I must admit that the TT seat was VERY well made but did not give me any height reduction that I need as my legs have not grown as much as I would like!!

Was the shape the same and was it anymore comfortable. The BMW one is rather curved so you sort of slide towards the bottom of it.

The shape seemed very close to the BM one but as far as comfort I dont know. I wanted / needed a lower seat height and as the TT one did not provide this I wanted to send it back (as it was £260 odd + p&p) and it did not seem right to take it out for a test ride, though it seemed similar to the BM one when I sat on it. It was however very well made.

Has anyone tried lowering the 'BMW lower seat' I was thinking of redoing the seat with gel and having some of the foam cut.

I have the TT extra low seat and it is very hard, but that's how I like it:augie. i wouldn't think there is much scope to make it any thinner!!!

It's not about distance but time in the seat. least week end I did 5 hours on the Saturday (2.5 + 2.5 hours), and 7 hours on the Sunday (2+1.5+2+ 1.5), and I felt like i'd had six of the best, but I think that's down to my trousers, they have an funny bit of leather on the bum, and the seam is just at the wrong place:mad:

Would anyone know which seat would get my short legs closer to the tarmac between a TT extra low and a Sergent low? I have a 08 1200 GS with a low seat but still struggle a bit a when stationary, parking etc! I can ride for 3 hours no problem with arse so comfort is not a issue! (Ive had all the cuban heal cracks from my pals) I've got to buy one or other as I really do not want to lower the bike.:ronno

Hi NYUK
I did consider this option and discussed it with a specialist vehicle upholsterer near me.
He said that whilst it was possible to do this and the seat would be very comfortable for short trips, on longer trips the gel would warm up and in his experience gets pushed out to the sides and you basically end up sitting on the seat frame.
He said he would give it some thought to see if there was any way he could honeycomb the gel within the seat to stop it spreading.
Its got me thinking:confused:I might spend some time and see if i can develop a very low very comfortable seat.

I have a 30" inside leg, so not much difference to yours.

I manage just fine on my 08 GSA, solo, with luggage and two up.

You just need to plan where you stop and which foot you put down, shifting your arse off the seat a bit if need be.

I take your point point Adam.
Which for 90% of the time is ok, but you cant always plan where to stop, narrow country lanes whith oncoming traffic for example and the verge falls away from you:nenau
1" longer legs might not sound like much, but go and jack your seat up by 1" and see how different it feels.

Yes you can.
It's called good riding.
If you find yourself having to make an unplanned stop you aren't using good observation and/or riding to the distance you can see to be clear.

It doesn't feel a lot cos it isn't a lot unless you are at the absolute limit of getting your toes down in the first place, which you and I are clearly not or we wouldn't even get it off the side stand.:D

I little self confidence together with riding well and "taking the bull by the horns" and it seriously isn't an issue.
If you can ride it solo (which you state you can) then you can ride it 2 up.
If you can get the ball of one foot on the floor you can easily ride the bike.
If you feel you want to be able to get more than that down (a whole foot, the balls of both feet) then fine, but it's not cos you need to, it's cos you want to, be it to give yourself a confidence boost or make up for poor riding.

I'm not saying don't get a lower seat, just saying you don't need to.
If you want to, crack on. It your (rather large chunk of) money.
