GRUMPY CYNICAL GIT ALERT (me, not you Nick)!
No need for burger vans when the Glenmalure Inn served grub.
Perhaps the rest of the menu was fine, but the chicken fillet burger I had from them wasn't great (not any fault of Overlanders/TT, of course). Pretty sure I'd have enjoyed even a shitty cheeseburger from a van more.
Anybody I spoke with thought Overlanders deserved a pat on the back for putting a good FREE show
Agreed - great that the public didn't have to pay to access, but let's call it what it was - an expose/showcase of products that Overlanders & Touratech hope the attendees will be inspired to buy after seeing & feeling in the flesh. Is that really an event that
should cost potential customers to attend?
To be fair, it all worked - I've browsed online and watched all the videos I can find, and have been pretty certain that I'll be getting a pair of Zega Mundos at some point. Seeing & feeling them in the flesh in Glenmalure confirmed that - now I'm fully certain, and without a doubt I'll be going to Overlanders when the time comes (unless I find a good used set on here first...

)
It
was great to see & feel stuff in the flesh, but I guess I was hoping for "more" or "bigger" - more trade stands, more clothing & gear to check out, more brochures, more guys to talk with, gear demonstrations, presentations/talks over the
whole weekend (and not just one day - lots of people can probably make one day or the other, but not both), free (or cheap) tea/coffee... And a sausage or burger van - perhaps Overlanders/TT thought it would be (or wanted it it to be) a more upper class affair than befits sausage & burger vans, but bikers (even well-heeled adventure bikers, I imagine) surely value choice for a bit of grub...
I enjoyed it, and I'd definitely attend again. But I hope Overlanders/TT learn from this (is it the first in Ireland?) and gimme what I want next year!
P.S. My kids are sick of me having the Touratech DVD (with the family touring NZ on the 12GS & sidecar outfit) running in the background when I'm farting about at home. I had my kids with me when I attended on the Sunday, and they got a huge buzz seeing the real-life Schwarz family arrive outside the Lodge as we ate our grub.
