Can anyone tell me if the Touratech low seat is better than the standard GS low seat, I find the BMW one learns forward and is a bit of a cruncher.

Cheers

You can tilt the standard seat up at the front by fitting the front end onto the higher mount but leave the rear end on the lower mount

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the BMW low seats are non-adjustable, unless things have changed for the WC?

Low seat is adjustable front and back as normal. The adjustment is on the bike not the seat, You can lift the front of the seat to uncrush your frontage if you wish.

With respect, the nay-sayers obviously don't own an LC. The seat is adjustable in the way that you can choose how to mount it independently at it's front end and it's rear end.

1. Front end up rear down
2. Front end down rear up
3. Both ends low
4. both ends high

Simples! :aidan

Cymarc also does replacement eccentric bobbins that allow the front to go lower still. The only issue is that you do slide forward more as the back is slightly higher.

Correct, mine is a 2013 and I have just found the adjusters on the bike. When you tip the back end down it does leave the seat a bit gappy ( if theres such a word). Anyway going out to give it a go see if my nuts are still getting crunched, Thanks for all your help, I'll report back :beerjug:

I have the low seat and find it very uncomfortable, especially since losing 4 stones (I have a relatively boney ar*e now :P )

The standard seat is much more comfortable, so I'll have to speak nicely to Simon at Allan Jefferies to see if I can swap seats or buy a Sargent or other aftermarket seat before next years foreign jaunts.

I have both the low TT seat and the bm seat, the TT is a tad higher than the stock gs low seat .

The TT seat will be in the FOR SALE section shortly.

I find the BMW low seat more comfortable than the standard seat, it is definitely firmer than the standard seat, but I feel that I sit more into it than onto it, suits my backside okay anyway!

Well tipping the seat back is definitely better than the position it was to start with. Ding Dong which one do you reckon is the more comfortable, no bias ;) Is this the reason you are selling your TT ?

Reason I'm selling the seat soon, the bike is going as well !

The truth is the low BMW seat is better I've done plenty of long days, 750 mile splash n dash and the TT would be a killer, but for the Sunday outing i prefer the TT seat, its firmer and you sit different with the one piece sport seat as in the picture, ive also tried the single TT low seat and that is far worse than the sports seat, before i purchased the one piece sports i brought both TT single seats, front low/stock rear and i sent em back for a refund after a trip to Austria there awful, my arse felt like it had been raped :( the sports low is better but for distance the BMW low is even better.

Thanks for your honest option mate, I'll stick with the low BM seat, next time I might get the lowered suspension model. Should have got it this time but to impatient :D Woud'nt wait had to have it now.

When you get the lowered bike next time, you can put a low seat on the 'high' setting, this will sit you at the same height from the tarmac as you are now with your current bike, but it will open your knee and ankle joints a bit more giving your legs a more relaxed riding position!

Thats what I did and it's definitely a more comfortable set-up!

Thanks mate, I'll give it a go. Is it true the standard seat has more foam, so more comfortable ?

My bro has the standard seat and has had the same issue with crushed nuts, he has since lifted the front mounting but left the rear low, this has improved his comfort no end.

I have the low seat and probably similar sized nuts (no I haven't checked just guessing) and I have never had a comfort issue in the nether regions, with the seat properly fitted in the level position. I prefer the low seat.

More foam does not always mean more comfort. My Explorer had a lot more foam than my GS low seat but I found that it used to get quite hot after about 90/100 miles, my thinner GS seat suits me better.

If you were closer you could try mine, maybe a dealer will lend you one. If not, book a demo ride and ask for a bike with a low seat, ride it for a couple of hours and your questions will be answered

I owned the BMW Low Seat and replaced it with the TT Low Seat. I found the TT seat slightly more comfortable and seemed to have a wider spread at the rear but just as narrow at the front. I also found the TT seat material a bit more durable and didn't scratch so easily when getting on and off bike. I did about 4K on the BMW Low Seat and about 3K so far on the TT Low Seat and much prefer the TT version. Can't say I really noticed but difference in reach to the ground on either one.

You can use the LC tilt mechanism on the TT seat as well.
