touratech oil cooler installation problem...

OK, what am I doing wrong...am trying to install the Touratech oil cooler guard in my 1150GS. The lower tab will not fit below the plastic tray with the beak's tab...nor will it slide directly underneath the base of the oil cooler chassis itself This does not even take into consideration the tick piec of foam bonded on the bottom tab of the touratech guard. It doesn't help that the installation pic is of a different guard (1100GS?). However the top of my directions sheet shows the guard Ihave and says 1150GS.

Any help is appreciated, ta!

I have an Aeroflow fairing mounted on the bike, the frame work was bolted tightly to the underside of the beak, preventing a space for the cooler guard's tab to slide under the cooler chassis. Loosened the fairing bolts and it slid right in...one could have the same problem with a lightbar bolted tightly under the beak.

Not much help I know, but I bought one for my first GSA, gave up after 2 goes at fitting it, sold it on this site, and then got the dealer to fit one to my new GSA

I know when I fitted mine it was a bit fiddly. Have you loosened the beak off and moved it away from the oil cooler?

The gaurd should sit on the top of the cooler and push fit the clip underneath the cooler.

Is it close? could you use a bit of persuasion?

If its well short then maybe they have sent the wrong one.

And after waiting two years for it to be delivered thats going to be a bummer
