TOURATECH orders.

I rang them at 12.28pm today ( thats about NOW ) or it was when i did it , £96 order , lots of little you'sless things you need , all had to be orderd from Ze Farzer Land and they were dispatched yesterday , so that was about 10 to 14 days ( This message is a smiley free zone ) .

I've emailed them a couple of times in the past few days to get an update on my order and still not had a reply. I thought I'd try an experiment this morning and emailed them again but from an email alias pretending to enquire about whether they had a particular item in stock. They replied in about 10 minutes!

They don't seem to mind getting new customers, but don't give a shit about existing customers wanting an update.
I'm really not sure why this company is still in business. :spitfire

10 minutes after my last post ( no not the trumpet thing'y ) the parcel arrived :clap BUT , the drinking tube and adaptor where missing :(
However they put in a water carrying bracket and bottle :nenau suppose i'll fit it to the bike :bounce1
I'll see how long the missing parts take to arrive :mmmm

I bought a new R1200gsa and ordered some tt pannier frames
a week before i got the bike as i was going on a trip though
europe the day came for me to start packing i got onto tt as
i needed the panniers and some other stuff id ordered and i had
to go without my panniers what a ball ache i did over 4000 miles
in 2 weeks and i got back this monday and still no tt stuff
i rang up on the tuesday and was told by tt that the bits would
be there today and with me this week its now saturday and still
no bits im right pissed of. But i do have to say that the Gelert 90Ltr
roll bag i used on the trip was brilliant.

TT uk are useless i think there is an opening for someone with a little van to go to touratech germany and get orders direct and bring them back to the uk if enough people were interested he could charge a small premium and maybe get the parts trade . There must be an opening for a engineering firm in the uk to start producing this stuff . It does make me mad that you can go and get the catalogue then just cant get any of the goods , perhaps its because the staff are all in some far flung country testing the stuff we would like to buy rather than stay in germany and make it. :spitfire

I've said in a thread (titled Metal mule) on the 650 forum that I've found a set of 38ltr Metal mules for £500, so I cancelled my TT order today because I could see myself in the shit without panniers for the forthcoming France trip!

Lets see if my Dakar Tank Bag arrives before I leave! :mmmm

I'm off to France at the end of the month, been on the phone to Touratech several times, and while they seem quite helpfull and understanding, they have no control over what they receive from Germany, so they can't tell me whether my Zega's will arrive next week, next month or even this year.
The Metal Mules look reaaly nice, but the price quoted was approx £750.
Are they worth the extras over the Zega's??

Over the last 3 weeks I've had much the same from TT, helpful ...ish... but with no real answers I want to hear!

To be honest I really don't know the only thing I can say is they look a tad sturdier than the Zegas. I prefer the Zegas because of the price! If I'd not found the Metal Mules in perfect condition and for £500 I wouldn't of forked out £775 odd for a brand new set.

Excellent response

I think their response is excellent..
Emailed them at 4.45 today.
Got a reply within 2 minutes:

Thats due to them having nothing else to do, lets face they have no stock to package and post! :thumb

Not wishing to suggest TTUK are angels by any means but the root cause of the problem is TTHQ in Germany. If they have stock then ordering is reltively swift back to the UK, if not then it goes on back-order and Germany are piss-poor at giving any useful estimate on delivery time.

With TT providing pannier systems for the BMW 1200DAV at the moment and demand far out-stripping supply, I'd imagine all production is geared towards these at the moment, so Zega customers will suffer long delays.

Having been to TTHQ in Germany and spoke to some of the guys, it's fine when they have stock but on my visit they had shortages in a whole lot of areas and no knowledge of when they would be in again.

That's why I think it would be far from a viable business to mule stuff from Germany to the UK, you just might comeback with a van load of stuff that no one wants :nenau

Emailed TT Germany again Monday morning..
Again got a very quick response...

..."Thank you sir, we can confirm your order cancellation"...
