John it's possibly too early in the morning but how would that link help with the frames?
Pretty strong fames made from 18mm tube steel, the mounting kit includes a brace which is fitted under the rear decking of the bike for additional strength which is something I'd not seen before.
From what I can tell with the frames on my bike, then there isn't any hacking or bashing or drilling holes, just unbolting etc. And I can't see there being much difference between the "special" and the "cheap" system. The TT USA link should give fitting instructions which might help.
What he could probably do with is some piccies of the zegas and the pucks already fitted?
Back more on track, the frames seem to be ok, painted, but welding looks acceptable. Only time will tell on if they're good long term. Don't know about the crashworthiness of the frames with out the panniers on, but I'm think someone who went to Wales last weekend might be able to help
