Touratech Tank Bag - GS1150

Can anyione that has the Touratech tank bag, either VP with side bags or ordinary one without post a nice big picture so I can see what it looks like?

The pics on www.touratech.de are too small to get an idea. Does the map pocket take an uncrumpled Michelin map? How easy does it come off/up to get to the fuel cap....

Sorry to post so many questions but getting the right kit needs answers....

has anyone tried one without the side stuff. A friend bought one recently and he isn´t too happy. Seems to move around. The map pocket though is very good.

Had that one before I got the VP45, works on a similar basis to the MBW one only its cheaper from Touratech (its not often you get to say that!).

Thanks all, this looks like the way to go as Mandarin not catered for by Baglux or so they say by email, but Saffron Yellow is....?

I assume the VP45 works without the side bags on those days that you don't need 'em?

The one without the side bags is about £78 opposed to £125 or so....

Strange. They've always done Mandarin in the past. Maybe they've discontinued it.

Got the brochure today and it included a square of bagster material, they call it saffron yellow but it looks mandarin to me... plus they make the Alpha bag as the only one in the colour.... have to check but the touratech bag looks el bizzo..

Tank bags

I've got a Touratech tankbag, and find the zip a bugg3r to join together to start zipping, so I had a couple of strips of velcro sewn on to the underneath of the bag to mate with the two strips of velcro on the baseplate. Works a treat ! Just rip it off !

Sorted, their saffron yellow is mandarin! Don't ask mw why the difference. So will order one next week or so once I have sold my Kappa panniers and the Oxford bag I need to shift.

TT bag arrived ok, but can someone let me have the fitting instructions in ENGLISH! There are so many straps etc and two little ally hooks I have no idea from the tiny pics and German instructions what to do with it!

It wouldn't be so bad but the bag's fitting fit is usable on the V-Strom and Varadero as well!

How does the TT bag with elephant ears compare the the BMW tank bag?

The BMW one looks fine (have my mates in front of me at the mo) but for the same price you can have the bigger TT one.

Does the TT one work OK without the ears or does it move about?

Also, do either damage the paintwork in any way?

I have both the BMW one and the TT bag without the 'ears'.

Neither do any damage to the paintwork as long as the tank is clear of any grit etc. that might rub between!

Both have a semi-permanent fixing that goes under the seat and against the rear of the tank. The BMW one uses a zip, the TT uses quick release buckles. Both then use lined matal hooks that latch over the tanks leading edge.

I use the BM one out of preference. The TT one gathers dust!

Just tried out my mates BMW tank bag on the bike and it's the one for me. Perfect for the job and good fit too.

The missus is picking me one up from SLM as I type!

The big TT one looks good but it's a bit overkill for what I need at the moment.
