:nenauGot my new GSA with ' free ' panniers but planning on fitting top box for every day use and panniers for trips etc. Like the look of the Touratech top box, the slightly smaller one and have 2 questions i wonder if anyone has any experience of? Is the more expensive polished version any good at stopping everything getting grey from the aliminium 'rubbings'? And does it fit the standard BM carrier without alterations? And indeed thirdly...can the lock be keyed to work off the same key?

So many questions about a top box....:nenau

Are you talking about Zega or Zega Pro. The Zega boxes are very shiny bare aluminium so have the same problems as the GSA boxes, they mark kit and gets dull and scratched easily. The Zega Pro kit can be supplied anodised but although top boxes are shown in the catalogue they are not on the web site. My wife emailed Touratech a couple of weeks ago enquiring about delivery to be told they are not (and never have been) available.

Zega and Zega Pro boxes use totally different locks to BMW boxes so can't use the same key (the locks are an optional extra anyway, as standard you use padlocks).

Fitting the Zega requires a base plate which costs extra.

I had Zega kit on my last GS but on my current GSA I just bought the GSA top box which came complete with base that bolts straight on to the rear rack or can be bolted above the rear seat leaving the rear rack free. It matches the rack and boxes, the key is the same, it will hold a helmet and the standard BMW Inner bag is designed to either go inside or clip on top if you need extra space. It comes with the necessary straps that fit on the box lid. Anything sliding around inside will mark but with the inner bag that is not an issue.

Thanks Andy, that was just the info i was looking for...looks like its the BM stuff ...cheers!
