Hey you can't own a location man!!
Hi Guys,

Heard some bad stories about delivery times and availability ordering items for Touratech? Anyone have an experiences good or bad with them, or is Wunderlich a better bet?

Cheers

:beerjug:

Well my Wunderlich seat ist Wunderbar!

I think that the problem with both is that we suffer the UK distributers who probably get a raw deal from the companies who prioritise to their main market i.e. the states.

Still awaitin TT bits ordered on 24/12/04 told 7-10 days two weeks ago.

I bought a rear mudguard thingy from Touratech and was told it would take 6 or 7 days. As it happens it arrived within 3 days. Probably down to whether they have the parts in their warehouse rather than just on their computer screen.:rolleyes:

I ordered a tailpack and some t-shirts from TT. Three weeks from order to delivery, including Christmas and New Year, not bad...found them easy to deal with...:)

Ordered many parts from Touratech Germany in November.
All but 2 were able to be shipped straight away & landed in Oz within about 2 weeks. Other parts due some time in March.
Had to give up waiting for the crash bars & other part, so sourced some Wunderlich locally.
Guess it boils down to current stock.
At least there is the choice available to overcome waiting.

:cool:

Things are improving @ TTUK...

1. I had something sent out next day, when I called to find out that one of the parts was on backorder, they split the shipment no problem.

2. They no longer bill your credit card until shipping.

Still could do with answering emails (though with the level of spamtrapping going on they may well have done and I'd never notice). Also some English fitting instruction sheets wouldn't go amiss.

You just need to phone up rather than rely on emaiil I'd say these days.

I'm waiting on an email reply. Maybe I'd better get on the phone then.

Good Service

I've had a few things from TT and had really good service. It's only when an item is out of stock that there is a wait.
Very helpful when you call too.

Fitting instructions are useless for me if in German too but common sense generally works.

The stuff is pretty good quality by the look and should last and perform the function. ie. not just shiny, blingy stuff.

Always found Touratech good to deal with. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait for certain items, like the crashbars for the 1200 that have been on order since last November but, their generally very good. The quality of their stuff is always good too. Not much experiance with Wunderlich other than the temperature gauge that didn't fit.

Some stuff is delivered by both, but overall they don't sell the same products.

To me:
Touratech = high quality stuff that works
* designed from experience by people who USE a GS
* good & friendly service (from Germany for me)
* warranty issues dealt with very promptly
* good support forum
* proper workshop & mechanics
* manufacturing on the premises (in Germany) for a lot of their stuff

Wunderlich = stuff that looks good, may work too
* designed by sales people, lots of cosmetic accessories
* decent service
* no experience with warranty as I don't buy much from them
* no support forum
* no workshop
* no manufacturing
* it's a mail order company

I have no shares in either company, but it's clear where I'll buy first :D

Cheers,
Michel

In my fairly limited experience (2 orders so far) Touratech UK are ok and very helpful.

I've always had poor service from TT every time I have used them.

I've found out that a lot of other companies offer the same items and often cheaper. You can buy the touratech (zega) panniers, for example, from wunderlich.

Also some of the BMW dealers now stock bits from TT and seem to have more sway when it comes to actually getting the stuff. I got a couple of electrical bits from Balderston in Peterborough for the same price as they would have been from TT but I didn't have to wait 6 weeks for the wrong part to be delivered.

Only used wunderlich for small bits but always had excellent service and next day delivery from them.

where can i buy a set of zegas then? bearing in mind i want them in stock, in this country & not from some bunch who can't even give an accurate/any delivery date.

the main thing stopping me ordering a set is the piss poor reputation of TT UK.

my occasional phone call to them always seem to end in some (admittedly) friendly chap telling me that whatever i want, they haven't got & they can't tell me when they will have it.
i ring off with the impression that organising a bunfight in a bakery would be too fecking challenging for them.

hope they're happy about losing a monkey :rolleyes:

are they still cheaper in germany at the moment with a strong euro? might get some that way.
