Spoke to a touratech guy at the NEC show and he told me that I would only need 1x of these lights fitted to my bike "Xenon Auxiliary Headlight" http://www.touratech.com/shops/008/...=7036&osCsid=de7e448fc1afb283e97a1d33d66e22bc. He also told me they are VERY bright, brighter than HID conversion kits. I am interested in making my lights brighter and would appreciate some advice. I'm thinking I would upgrade the bulbs in the spots already fitted to my GSA. But where I go from there I'm unclear - HID or touratek headlight - either way blimming expensive it will be.

Dear Gawd just clicked that link!

As someone who ha alight fetish just a bit smaller than his exhaust fetish let me tell you you do not have to go with that option!

Go search for Les Wassall of this parish who can provide not only advice and hardware to convert your GSA fogs but a kit for the stock lights as well and potentially for similar money to a single TT light. :thumb

HID

Do the headlights you can forget the spots there just decorations, check out zerocool aswell

Speak to Les Wassell, brilliant guy and very knowledgeable.

He's just turned my Hella micro de fogs into hid fogs. Very good work.

The Hellas are the same as touratech the only difference is that touratech split up the pairs and sell the spots and fogs singularly.

All in it cost me £225 for the pair including the conversion. I believe Les can supply the lot for the same price.

I sent mine on Thursday and got them back the following Tuesday how's that for service.

Here's the link to the original post http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111781

Who did you speak to ? as we supply TT with HiD kits and they are after the convertion parts as well :D

£337.27 for one lamp?

:jes:jes

The picture looks like a HELLA Micro DE. If so then it must surly be a HiD conversion :nenau

I get the impression the guy you talked to didn't know what he was talking about.

Drop Les a PM he'll put you straight and save you quite a bit of dosh too :thumb2

Val.

I have looked into all sorts of combination on lights. The auxiliary lights do look good but in my book are not needed and bloomin' expensive.

I have put a HID on the dipped beem (1150GS) from http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/ninjazx9rblue/ ....at a cost of £67.00 for the more powerful option with slim all weather ballast. Great results and took 40mins to fit with good instructions. The ballast is secured under the beak with industrial strength velcro and after 1200 mile through all sorts of weather, has been fine. Service was fast as well.

I also added a philips extreme to the high beam (no point putting a HID on it as the lense is not set up for it)...again from ebay although you need to search for a H1 bulb as they are not so common as the 4 and 7.

I ride at night quite allot and this set up seems fine for me giving good spread and range without melting oncoming traffic.

I can see a use for auxiliary for daylight running to stand out from the crowd but it not sure it adds that much to a well set up HID.

Hope this helps

The only model hid I can see are the 35 watt ones, if so thats quite expensive for one of them, mine are cheaper :D
So are the HiD'd DE';s for the 1150 than a lot out there :thumb2

I've got one of those on my 1150 - just the one small xenon spot attached to the screen mount, and the ballast is made/designed to fit in the frame space under the top yolk, out of the way and nice and neat.

Eye burningly bright when i fire it up. I only ever use it when needed which is rarely in this country. Plus I don't ride with lights on during the day.
