Anyone fitted the xenon spot lamp?
The catalogue seems to indicate that you only fit one on the offside and a matching switched fog on the nearside, am I misreading this or has anyone got this set up fitted.
The price of 2 xenons is over £500 otherwise:eek:

Cheers bikerdudes

No your not mis-reading it. one Xenon on the left is plenty. Real retina burners. Only problem is that I have wired mine to the dip switch and when I dip my lights it's as though you've turned them right off:hapybnce:

It don't half shift cars from the overtaking lanes on the m-way quickly:D

Thanks Dennis,

Im gonna go for the HID headight conversion first, (bill at Ocean had some kits made up locally for about £210 unfitted) which sorts out dip beam.
This combined with Xenon spot on hi beam should be plenty then and no drastic cut off when you dip!

bleedin' 'eck too loud - I would prepare yourself for a bumpy ride.

Reckon you'll be melting the tarmac in front of you as you ride along! :P

Night vision

My night vision is legendary in these parts, IE complete lack of it!!
I am gonna try the HID conversion first then decide on spot lamp so the blacktop is safe with me:P

Keep us all posted on the result of the conversion. I've got the single sided hid and it's bloomin fantastic till you have to shut down main beam going into a right hander in the dark cos of oncoming traffic!!!:)

HID Conversion

Just done a HID conversion of the dip beam light. Got the kit from HIDonline, Janet is the lady to speak to. It comes with basic instructions, but I needed more info so I used the search here and found better instructions from the Advrider site. Easy to fit but you need to do some modification of the cover that weatherproofs the back of the bulb. The back of the HID bulb is much longer so you have to 'dremmel' a hole so you can run the leads etc through the cover. Unfortunately the rubber grommet supplied on the wiring does not allow you to plug the hole properly. I have raised the issue with HIDonline and they are supposed to be changing it for BM's. However, the judicious use of some silicon sealant does the trick.

Now for the problems

1. You have to find somewhere to put the ballast box. If you don't have ABS, the resulting hole is perfect. I am still looking for a permanent home.

2. Once fitted it is bloody brilliant, but makes the normal bulb in the main beam side seem pathetic by comparison. Also the light is a different colour. The main beam needs doing to match up but see no 1. doubled as where to put second ballast box.

3. £200 a kit

4. It really pi**es off the car drivers coming the other way. Ho ho ho.

Hmmmm....is it just me or is this a bit OTT..especially in light of item 4? (no pun intended)

I have superbright led fogs fitted via Rob's switch......if i forget to turn the fogs themselves on, or if I'm going to run up behind a plod car, I can just stick to the led's.....having said that though, I've been running ther fogs on pretty much all the time and haven't been flashed by a cage once, even with lots of hours in central London.......I have them angled down a bit so I'm confident they're not antisocial/potentially dangerous to me by blinding someone.....

On my mains I have a pair of FF50's.....the logic being that if there are other vehicles oncoming i wouldnt be on main beam so if I'm going to use main beam I might as well have the spots on too.

Seems to me that HID converstions are well overpriced even if they are effective, but more than that, if used in a way and with an attitude that says
It really pi**es off the car drivers coming the other way. Ho ho ho.
then you're asking for a slapping and giving us a bad name.

Pratt.

JMHO.

up yours

Fanum - item 4 is down as a real-life problem I have discovered and tried to pass on. It has made me think twice about the kit. If your attitude is indicative of this club then I will think twice about that too.
