Rock Solid

I am really impressed by them.
I'm using them here in Thailand during the rainy season and they have held up well not letting a drop of water in.
Te frame is remarkably sturdy and provides extra rigidity to the back end. I have had some spills and they have protected the bike well.
The catches cand top can be a pain if you are used to hinged and keyed panniers. I am still not entirely convinced that this is more of a nuisance than a help. It does make packing easier.
I had an 1150 GSA b4 and had been mucked around by BMW due to the plastic hinges constantly cracking on their good looking boxes. The 1200 GSA boxes again look good but I have read of the plastic corners shattering in a tipover.
For practicality and not for looks I'd go for Zegas again.
As for mounting I got my dealer to put them on. Touratech are not known for their ease of putting things together; let alone trying to understand the instructions. Wunderlich don't even try and just supply in german. Tho their gear is good.

Having had the Caja's on my 12GS & now on my 12GSA I can recommend them wholeheartedly :thumb

They are seriously solid pieces of kit which had severe abuse heaped on them in Morocco :bounce1 & never gave me any problems. (small problem with heat from exhaust but quickly rectified by Civil & all later versions incorporate the modification)

Several people here have had accidents where the Caja's have stood up really well. Having lost a lid in Achill (not closed properly :doh ) I was impressed that despite having been driven over by a car  the only damage was a few scrapes & a bent tie-down loop :)

I don't have any 'hands-on' experience of the Zegas but I'm familiar with them. I don't think they look or feel nearly as strong.

Also a plus is the fact that Civil will make them to your exact requirements - size, finish, etc.

I'm working in Dundrum & can bring the bike in anytime if you fancy having a gawk at them ;) Or come out on one of the runs :D
