Hi all, new to this forum but not new to motorbike forums.

I'll try and keep this short.

My Father (who was a member of this forum) had a very big off 2.5 years ago when he was punted off (infront of me) buy a 'friend' who ran into the back of him.

He suffered a significant brain injury and can no longer ride.

Last week I inherited his Hayabusa and cleared all the motorbike things out of the garage, kind of a closure thing.

Anyway, on to my question.

I am ebaying all his GS1150 things, one of which is the original BMW Touring hard (3 piece) luggage system and rack.

We can't find the key for this (it's locked). How do I get a new key?

Long story...simple question.

Thanks in advance.

PS. I'll post a link to the ebay stuff I have to sell (there is LOTS) as soon as I get round to it.

Timothy I'm sorry to hear of your father's injury, you have my sympathy :(

As for the key, if it is BMW luggage and was purchased from a dealer then it should open with the ingnition key from the bike. Either way the dealers have extensive records and may well still have details of what key is required.

I hope this helps, good luck :thumb

So, well, the key went to the insurance who wrote the bike off.

I have contacted the dealer that the bike came from, would any BMW key fit?

I'm trying to get rid of them on ebay and without a key they are 'tits on a fish'.

You can purchase a lock kit from BMW Dealers or the likes of Motorworks,Moto Bins, etc.

(It is possible to configure the pannier locks to match the ignition key).

Most likely you can get a kit that contains a key as well.

Funny how I keep bumping in to you Tim :)

Yeah....take the panniers to your nearesr Dealer and explain the situation. They should be able to open the panniers and find the 'key code' so that replacements can be cut.

.......reference your comments on a certain other forum......you'll not get me buying any of the kit you have.........I run superior, faster R1200GS ;) :D
(non of the 1150 kit is interchangeable with the 1200)

Good luck selling, let me know if I can help in any way.........how is you Dad these days??

Andy, much better. He still has 4 bad days out of a week, I think the clear out was closure for him which is good, gives him more time to spend on his 6 other cars!!!

I'll try and find a local dealer and get the boxes to them.

Thanks for all your help chaps.
