Touring from Santander to Alps

Having toured through Spain this year I am at present researching the above trip for next year. I will land at santander and meet up with my mate who has just moved to spain.
We then plan to ride across the Pyranise(spelt wrong) and through the Alps to the Black forest. Here we will stay with friends before he goes back to spain and I ride back through the Borders to the Coast. I will then use the tunnel or ferry to get to England.
I want to ride for around 300 to 350 miles a day and will use bike friendley B&B's. I know that a lot of you do this sort of trip and I hope that you can help me find good roads and places to stay. It would also be usefull to find any web sites that help in planning the trip.
I am thinking about next september for the trip so whats the weather like and would I be better going earlier.

Ive used this forum for months and never seen this section. Just shows that you can show a horse to water but a pencil must be lead.

Superb trip, did it with the wife on the R1100RT three years ago. Crossed into France and then across country through the Ardeche to Montelimar and then route de Gap through the pre Alps before turning up north. Weather in early September can be a bit mixed but after the first week France has gone back to work/rioting so roads are easier. Little or no problems finding accom after the first week so I didnt bother to book anywhere. Enjoy
