Hi All,

I currently own a 2016 GSA TB but am having trouble with a hip/leg problem which means when touring abroad, which i do a lot, it means taking breaks every 45 mins or so which is ok on small trips but on main tours to the Alps etc, it does tend to kill momentum..........so, im test riding a dct AT tomo and wondered your thoughts of touring. I did buy a new AT in 1999 which i still wish i hadnt sold.

Also recovering from 2 shoulder ops, the last in June so hoping the less weight may help too, so, who has done some decent mileage tours and what are your thoughts. From research i guess most would have the following:

Centre stand
crash bars (spot lights ?)
taller screen
sat nav mount
bar risers ( i always use them ).

seen lots of extras from the threads on here :)

I'm also looking at the AT

Honda AT and BMW F800GS have similar wet weights of just over 500 lbs .... maybe 530 lbs on the AT if you go for the DCT

Apparently the wet weight of the 1200GS is 570 lbs which surprised me ...... but that must include the Centre Stand as this is standard and it has a bigger tank

Reports suggest that the AT rides lighter because of a "better" weight distribution

The end can is heavy on the AT as is the centre stand

There appears to be better after market spotlight options than the Honda ones

I did a 3000 mile trip on my DCT AT last year,of which about half of that was 2 up with luggage.
Ignore all the rubbish you read that it’s underpowered. It was great ! We rode the Dolomites and had 2 panniers plus 2 roll bags and it was fantastic. The DCT made the ride very pleasant for the pillion.
Should have probably kept mine but only sold it as I had a KTM 1290R on order.
The AT is a great bike and is even better with the DCT.

I had fitted the tall screen, tall seat and bar risers plus main stand etc.I’m 6’1” and found it very comfy.

There were a few for pre reg models sale, even DCT models, with zero miles, for £9,500 ....... but they seem to have now gone

Cheers Arsey,

I may well keep the GSA as well to start with and see how it goes :thumb2
