Tourque wrench

Got a Caltec torque wrench which has settings in foot pounds and something called M KPS or M KGS

I can get my head round foot pounds, but need Nm's....

is M KPS or M KGS the same as Nm's?

Can't be @rsd to have to do sums every time to convert... so if neither better get meself a new one...last time I used it (12 months ago) wrong calculation was used which resulted in me stripping the rear caliper thread.

Now I daren't use it

1 ft.lb = 1.36 N.M or 1 N.M = 0.74 Ft.Lb

is that an answer you can use?

Thanks for the reply Haytch... that will work out, but I was kind of hoping that one of the scales on the wrench was another way of saying Nm's

suppose I can use a calculator......

Check, but I'd imagine the Kg scale is 10Nm per division, as 1Kg is equivalent to 10N on Earth.

i.e. 1 M KGS = 10NM

Should be easy enough to set up and print a basic spreadsheet - so you wouldn't need a calculator.

I've been using THIS for a while and very good it is too. Even has some spaces for you to enter your own peculiar little conversion variables. Saves you logging onto t'net eveytime you want to check summat out.

Thanks for all the replies folks! used one of the conversion charts and tested the wrench on the biggest nut i could find.. it does work.....

Looks like this one.. just need to move the decimal place once to the right

Best torque wrench?

Does anyone have any recomendations on a good torque wrench?

Was looking at the Draper 3001A. Covers 30-154 Lb Ft- seems to be sufficient for most things on a 1150GS??

I was reading the bit about back wheels falling off and as I don't fancy that happening, I wouldn't mind doing it right!
