Bought a couple of new visors for my TourX via Ebay a few months ago, much cheaper than NZ Arai dealer prices. visors appear to be genuine Arai items, in proper packaging etc, but I've noticed they don't seem to be anything like as scratch resistant as ones I've had in the UK before coming to NZ. After just a couple of months use, the first one is badly scratched, as bad as the original Arai one was after a couple of years! Anyone had bad experiences? Do Arai do different quality coatings for different markets maybe?

Nar - its the rain mate. All damp up there in old blights makes things (like dirt) soft. So things don't get scratched up as much. Now in NZ you don't get that UK type rain that just sits there and waits for your to walk (or ride) in to it. No, it comes out of the sky and falls to the ground, great heaps of it all in a rush like. And over here in Oz we don't even get that .. well not as much as ewes guys. Save gidday to the broghs

I've just checked mine but I can't see any obvious distinguishing marks singling it out as a British / EC market item :nenau

I know that the scratch resistance is built into the safety standards here but I can't see Arai making a lower quality visor for elsewhere in the world due to product liability laws. I magine if a visor was seen to be a contributory factor in a death in NZ and it turns out they make better visors for the U.K.? :eek

Are you sure that it was genuine? Was it a reputable business you bought it from? There's big money in counterfeiting things and they often steal the packaging to make it look more genuine
