My tracker was fitted by BMW to the new bike and the first subscription renewal is due. I am thinking I may not bother.
Have others done this ? What happens when it lapses, can it be re instated by me later or by a new owner. I presume if I sell the bike I contact datatool and advise them?

I renewed mine for the 3 option and had quite a discount. I decided to do this as I’m keeping the bike, it just gives some piece of mind.

Hi
I purchased the bike in Oct 2021at 10 months old . No problem to change over .
Datatool were very good at sending all the info regarding the tracker etc.

Mine ran out on the 5th, the insurance company weren’t bothered about it, so I saved the money

Personally unless there is considerable discount on insurance or it is a stipulation of insurance I wouldn't bother as if my bike gets nicked and ridden by thieving scrotes I wouldn't want it back
If nicked by Pros for breaking up for parts or shipping to Albania ( other countries are available) the tracker wont make much difference anyway

If you don't want to renew the subscription just give them a call, it's quick and easy to do and they can reactivate it if you change your mind. The lady I spoke to when I cancelled mine was very helpful.

Many moons ago we bought a used car fitted with Tracker , we enquired about renewing the subscriptiin but it was stupid money for very little insurance discount.

However, we were advised by our insurance broker not to declare its fitment (unless it was subscribed to and activated) as at least three companies would not insure the car in those circumstances or would not make full payment on a theft claim because a tracker was fitted but not activated

Depending on your circumstances, a total loss on your insurance will probably make a significant difference to your next policy - over £1k for me at the time, then a hefty loading for the following 4 years.

But hey, each to their own.

I phoned them up and now pay monthly.
