trading "down" to an airhead (or is it "up")

very nice i nearly got one myself a couple of weeks ago, and will get one one day but now got melches old gspd to play with. iwas temped by this one but was already committed . it will be great fun and seem tiny compared to the huge GSA but still capable of going places.:thumby:

I've had my Airhead, an R100RS, since 1982, I still love it. My wife has been on at me for years and years to get a new bike- I've been close a couple of times, but it's been 32 years now and I don't think I could ever sell it.

If I got that sort of free pass from my missus, I wouldnt need telling twice! The key is, did she say you had to sell your R100RS to get a new bike? If not, just buy another bike and keep the RS??

Win Win!

He he, I remember when these were new in the eighties and I threw my leg over one, and I was shocked then at how massive it was, I just thought why on earth would you need such a massive bike, I just dont get it (and the cost:eek feck me!). NOW, it does seem small, especially just getting back on it after the GSA.

Things move on, but bigger isn't always better I find. Fortunately Mrs Solidstate100 is with me on that one.

Ah, but I am content with the old banger and have owned it since new. The way that I see it is that it's quite happy bimbling around the back lanes of Llŷn or having its neck wrung in the mountains or covering ground on motorways. I know that there are lots of other bikes that would do the job better, but I am fond of it, we have got to know each other's little ways.

No, if I do buy another bike I've already asked a friend if I could leave the RS with him for him to use as he wanted as well. That was about four years ago, nothing's happened yet... :augie

sold my 12gsa and bought a basic to go with my 80g/s

basic is a lovely little bike but thinking i might get a r1150gs for 2 up with the mrs

Funny, was thinking in the same vein - Since I have had the G/S I have not touched the GSA. Of course I am still in the honeymoon period so no doubt that will change, but I keep thinking do I need a GSA now? - I sold my R80 RT a while back and regretted it, and I cant help thinking that if I got one of those (or a 100RT) then I could sell the GSA and use that for the 2 up stuff.......

AirheadS, feckin addictive:blast

It's a good combo. I have an '81 g/s and an '83 R100RT. Works for me. ;)

I have a R80Basic R100GSPD and love them :thumby:
But if i want to cover distance i normally grab the 1100GS or the 1200GS
The 1200 is great for 2 up holidays if you want comfort....As long as it doesn't brake down :eek
