Does anyone know if there is a socket somewhere for the GTM12 Traffic Antenna so it will work with the R1200GS TE?

I had a hunt around but couldn't find anything, nothing in the manual, and the dealer didn't think there was but couldn't say for certain.

Failing that, would replacing the TE cradle with a Zumo 660 cradle enable the multifunction wheel to work?

Aren't traffic alerts built in?:nenau

The 660 won't work with the wheel.:rob

I must admit that I had not picked up on this. I had assumed that, as with my Nuvi 3490 in the car, the radio antenna was built into the power supply to the Nav IV. I will clearly have to go back to the manual and find out how/where you plug in the necessary aerial

To be frank the Traffic advice thing is a bit of a curate's egg on a motorbike, not least as you can filter past most jams.

In some countries it seems to work, in others not.

I ignore it and / or run the map out of Traffic' view anyway. Rather, like the voice prompts, pings and belches, speed camera warnings and other rider aids to the 'ownership experience' the can all go, too.

I have just RTFM and it states that the traffic alerts only work when the device is in the auto-mount, has an external power supply and has a traffic antenna fitted. Nothing about the facility being available when on a m'bike.

I take Wapping's point about traffic alerts being somewhat superfluous but, as I seem to have found myself on the roads around Brussels a lot of late (plus the autobahns around Cologne/Dusseldorf/Dortmund seem to have some quite horrendous traffic issues), I would love to get some sort of warning so that I can think about diverting around the north of Brussels (or an alternative autobahn when in Germany), rather than having to filter through kilometres of standing or slowly moving traffic

The traffic antenna will work with the 660, but not (apparently) with the Nav IV with its four button mounts.

The traffic function on the Nav IV works on the 1600 GT, where it picks up the FM signal required via the radio. But that is entirely different..... and the iWheel works :thumb2

Time to chop in those Nav IV's and buy some 660's.... or buy a 1600, with soooooo much more power and soooooo much more comfort and sooooo much more presence and soooo much better lights and soooo much better screen. It's awesome.

Still no joy with the 2014 R1200GS LC, no USB to plug the GTM12 in.. so, I get traffic alerts when I use the Navigator IV on the R1 with the Zumo 660 hard wired cradle, but nowhere on the BMW to connect it, but the wheel works.

If the power lead for the Nav IV cradle lacks the USB socket that comes with the vanilla 660 bike cradle then you're out of luck I'm afraid. If you used a 660 cradle and lead it would probably work but then you loose the control wheel and extra buttons.

Have a GTM12 plugged into my 660 on my VFR, not much practical use on a bike TBH but it was only £13 off eBay brand new. Someone on here pointed me at the auction a few years back before I hand the Zumo. It has lifetime coverage for UK and France included.
