Folks

I am about to remove my '23 GSA wheels to have the OE Anakees replaced with either TA3 or PR6. I'm not fussed about a few £ difference in price, so if anyone that has had both on a GS/GSA has experience to share I'd be interested to know.

Have had PR4's on my last GS1250 a few years back & was happy with them, but never tried the Contis.

Many Thanks

Trail Attack is one of the top tyres for GS.
Road 6 has known issues in size for GS (bike pulls left, slight speed wobble on higher speed).
I've had Road 6 for about 1 month and had to take them out (because of the issues) and replace them with Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2.

The general consensus on this forum is that Road Pilots and Anakees are shit.
So TA3 would be the choice.

Personally I've used both Michelins without much issues, although I did get the infamous "Hum" from the Anakee 3, but grip in all conditions was great.

Interesting stuff folks, thank you.

TA3 was my feeling, but wasn't aware of any pulling issues with the PR tyres.

Anakees are super noisy and OK in the dry, but in the wet I really don't like them at all.

I've had both, PR6s on the GS and CTA3s on the GSA. The CTA3s are definitely quieter than the PRs but the CTAs tend to wear flat on long straight motorway journeys. Come spring I'll be changing the CT3s for the Anakee Roads, just to see what they're like. Not read much about them. To be fair, apart from the noise, I don't find the Anakee Adventures too bad. My thinking is that the Anakee Roads are dual compound and will be quieter than AAs. Some of the trips I intend this year will probably have some long motorway stretches to get where I want to be.

My 2018 GSA came with PR6, awesome grip in the wet and dry, very quiet on the road but when it came to replacement they were beyond my budget. I went for TA3 and they are just as good as the PR6 and no concerns about punctures that the PR6 seem to be prone to.

I've had both, but not on the same bike. I did not personally like the feel from Road 6, I think it's because the sidewall is less sturdy on heavier bikes.
CTA3 is my go-to tyre now, on my 2nd front (on my GS), and 3rd rear, but renewing both for the upcoming season :) CTA3 again of course. I'm getting 7-8000 from a rear, and 10,000 miles from the front!
I also ran CTA3 on my V85TT, and will be going with CTA3 when the tyres on my Stelvio need replacing...
Tourance Next is the only other tyre I would consider for my GS.
Make sure you get the V rated CTA3, and not the W Rated CTA3. The V rated has more tread :thumby:

I've ran both types. Obviously it depends on a lot of variables.

CTA3 on my GSA every time for me now, unless something even better comes along.

"PR4 Scooter" for my Tmax (IMHO the best tyre for Maxi Scooters until something better comes along).

Hi, i ran both TA3 and Road6s on my 1250 adventure and was equally impressed by both albeit the Road6 was a bit quieter. Currently running Road6s on my 13GS as they are my preference now. The rears on the Roads now seem to wear a lot better than before.

Another vote for TA3. Excellent tyre in all road conditions on a GSA.
However, my last two GSAs came with Michelin Anakee Adventures from new, and apart from the price of replacements, they seem to be around £75 a pair fitted more than the TA3, I can’t fault their performance and longevity. The current ones have just over 5000 miles on them and still have at least 3000 miles in them.

Continentals for me too. I’ve used PR’s as well, but didn’t find them as reassuring as the TA’s on dry or wet roads, but more so on wet.

I'm also using Trail Attacks. Previously had PR5/6s and found them a) puncture-prone and b) had the issue with pulling to the left. I've used the TA3s on a track day, and they didn't seem to lack grip in that context. They also don't feel too bad when even quite noticeably squared off.

Thanks again everyone - very much appreciate all your comments!!

Nobody seems to mention Conti Road Attack 3. I’ve had 3 sets now and if it wasn’t for emergency Pirelly Scorpion Trail 2, I’d be replacing them with another set. Great tyres. PS. I’ve never had Trail Attack 3 on any of my bikes. What’s the main difference between Trail and Road?

One is for trail/road and one is for road.......sorry, couldn't resist 😉

Good point actually as I ride on the road!
