OK Folks, a last minute change in circumstances means I can lead a trail ride on Sunday 16th.
The ride will be approx 100 mile loop in the Mold, Ruthin and Denbigh area.
Breakfast at a cafe in Ruthin is definate and fuel is readily available at several points en-route.
The going is easy to medium, so this wil be ideal for 'improvers'. As usual, nobody gets left behind (Ask Dr LC8 for a reference!:augie).
The RV/start point will be at ER Williams motorcycle shop on Gas Lane, Bromfield Ind Est:-

We may need to stop at several points to cut through foliage, so pack a set of secateurs.........:thumb2

Please don't forget that we will leave the RV at 0900hrs prompt.

If your interested, please post a reply so I can gauge numbers.

Regards.
Timpo.

Timpo,

Haven't ridden the GS offroad before (offroading limited to having ridden a few enduros and competing a C90 in a charity enduro challenge!) but really fancy having a go, so would like to come along!

Tina and I are coming and I belive Rick, Gareth and Pete are too. I'm riding with them tomorrow.

BTW what time do we leave:hide

Rolf, I would not recommend this ride on a full size GS, unless your absolutely sure that you can handle the machine on welsh trails. I have a ripped muscle in my chest so the less lifting the better. Can you borrow a pogo from anybody? This type of bike may be better suited for what I have in mind.
Sorry to sound harsh, but best said now, than on Sunday's first trail.:blast

Timpo.

Pics form the last effort.

Pictures of the lanes are down this thread:- Here
Get Dr LC8's pics out of the way first, don't let them fool you into this ride.:thedummy

Can't make it as I'm working which is probabally a good thing as my leg is still bruised and swollen after an off last weekend.
MX Boots are top of my shopping list Gerick toerags aren't up to it for an addicted faller offer like myself.
I hope you have a good ride.:thumb2

Having looked at photos take your point about the GS! (Strangely thought off-oad rides advertised on the GS users forum would be ridden by people on GSs!:nenau) Since have to ride bike to work all week shall be finding gentler rideout for Sunday, have a good time all!:thumb2

In some ways I can see your point but this site has developed into something more than a GS only forum. You can ask a question about any bike or a problem and receive an answer. Sometimes it even makes sense.
There are many members on the site that have developed an interest in trail riding and where better to arrange a meeting than here.
GS friendly rides are also arranged here. I know that the Adventure rider thread mentions one next weekend.
If you can, I would recommend that you buy a cheap pogo and start joining in the fun.:thumb2

Should be there..

The DRZ goes into A&D to see if they can prise the rear caliper off, where i have failed.. so if successful.. new pads and rear brake that works :thumb.

So should be able to make it :)

Hew, sorry you cannot make it..

Rolf, I can see you point, and Hew is right, the site does cover a wide variety of things, one reason i think its so popular. If you never been out on the GS, then consider the adv rally were having the following weekend down in rhayader... The majority of guys are on big bikes and the trails are chosen accordingly.

Should I.. ??

I wonder.. if I leave the tow -strap at home, do think no one will break down.. every time i have taken it out with my so far, its been used..:D

Just seen the forecast, not too hot and maybe a bit damp.. where has out summer gone :nenau

Will be there as Tim says.

See you Sunday Timpo.

Thanks for that - unfortunately am working that weekend but shall look out for similar GS suitable rides being posted!:beerjug:

Thankyou..

Once again, cheers Timpo for organising and leading and thanks to all the other who made it a great day. Was lots of fun! :thumb

I am just off down to buy a new and spare brake lever, clutch lever and some better hand guards for the drz..

My right arms is badly bruised from my crash and my neck seems to have siezed up a little. Fairly certain that if not for the forcefield body armour i would have broken my arm.. the knox gear in my jacket has been completely crushed flat, so a new forearm/elbow pad is on the shopping list too..

Despite that, was a great day and the tracks were a lot drier than i was expecting. Hope everyone else made it home safe and sound..

Cheers John

Go on tell us more. It hurts doesn't it.
Good kit really pays out when it goes wrong.
I hope you are ok for your adventure weekend.
I had been hoping to make a day ride but my leg is still badly swollen :( .
Have a great weekend:beerjug:

See for yourself..

Hew, hope the legs better soon matey..

Yeh it hurt a lot, and picking the lump up straight afterwad and dragging it around to go back down the lane was painfull.. but not as much as when i keep banging it or trying to rest/lean on it today.. :blast

Goes from the elbow joint up.. but the most surprising bit was the stiff neck this morning. Didnt have that at the time, but today its stiff and bit sore. I am hoping it will clear by the weekend.

Yep, wearing the gear makes sence.. want better boots now too.
