Is it a green lane?

Is it worth riding?

Will it be open this month?

nope its not a green lane its like a pumped up version of the stelvio without the pushbikes and other traffic...and yes if you are in the area altho its a long way across to it!
open road...no major high passes that might be subject to snow closure afaiaa

I've was only joking about the green lane bit.

I will be out there on the Beemer in a couple of weeks but some sites suggest that it doesn't open until late June.

Well worth a ride up the northern side and back even if the pass is not open. They don't open the snow doors on the tunnel until all the snow is gone but you can usually get to the top from May onwards. There is a hotel on the lake at the top that's a nice place to stay if the weather is good. http://www.balea-turism.ro/en_index.htm Not the best website but a great place to spend a night.
If the tunnel is open don't forget to check out the real Dracula's castle. Vlad's genuine Citadel at Poinari http://www.draculascastle.com/html/poenari.html a good few steps to walk up but worth it:thumb2

For the best riding in Romania head either to the very North. where the lunatic drivers are less in evidence, or South West along the Danube Gorge and the mountains NE of Baile Herculane.

Have fun

I hope so im there abt mid june, I think its the transalpina thats a green lane.
