Travelled over the Transfagarasan today 24th June 2015 and despite it being stated as closed it certainly was not . 15c on top at 6800ft .

It always appears as closed till 1 July but this is second year I have done the pass towards the end of June .

A must do ..... Romania is a lovely place to visit and very inexpensive .

The rest of my trip is pinpointed here http://trackmytour.com/1sgt1

Would love to do Rumania Skipper, is finding a good hotel or language a problem?

Great pics, and on my to do list.

ebbo, hotels are easy enough to find but I'd be more inclined to find one with secure parking than I would be in let's say, France or Switzerland.

I've only been to Romania once but the language wasn't really any more of an issue than most other places in Europe. Unlike most Eastern European languages, Romanian is latin based, like French / Italian / Spanish, so the barrier isn't as difficult (dificil) etc...

Cheers, one day then... maybe

We are going in August, Transalpina too and then on to the Danube Delta before coming back via Bulgaria.
