Firstly make sure the map version is the same on the zumo as your pc.
Before you transfer the route, on mapsource double click on the route, uncheck the box that says "autoname" and type in a name for the route that will make sense to you.
Next when you send to the device (for what to send select waypoints and routes) the route will be stored under "custom routes" you shouldnt need to import it unless you mistakenly sent it to the sd card instead of the zumo itself.
Any waypoints you created for the route will be saved in Favourites automatically, you can delete them off if you dont want them all, personally I just keep the final destinations.
Hope this helps:thumb

Mapsource manages the maps, it's not the maps. Do you mean that the maps on your PC are older than those on the 660?. And if they are different you should say yes and let it re calculate. I download routes to hundreds of Garmin devices every summer-mostly the maps will be different especially with the number of updates out there. Never had a problem caused by these differences.

Disconnect between transfers as youve worked out you need to do the transfers one at a time, prob a way of doing it but Ive never worked it out, just transfer one, disconnect from Pc , check its in custom routes and then repeat.

Theres no need to have different map versions on PC, if your updating the maps on your zumo regularly e.g. via lifetime updates. there is an option when your downloading from garmin to update PC & Zumo, (doesnt cost anymore to update both at the same time) in the map installer you click on update options I think, then select PC & Zumo, the default is Zumo only. It can cause problems when you plan routes on different maps, trust me the Zumo doesnt like it.

If you put several routes together so that they are on one Mapsource screen they they will download together. Again this is something I do all the time, we have around 50 routes now and I often put a small selection together for guests. If you have them separately you can use copy & paste to put them together. Does mean it can take some time if it has to recalculate them all though. I usually do it while the guests are having breakfast so a slight delay is not a problem. There is a limit on the number of routes that each device can hold, can't remember right now what the limit is on a 660 but it's in the user manual.
Hope that helps.
