Is this feasible as 2 dealers have now said no but Datatool at the NEC insisted you can and BMW can supply the new loom to fit or Datatool will come and fit without loom but hardwire into the 1300 wiring. Obviously the later could invalidate the warranty.
`I know there are cheaper alternatives such as Monimoto which gets great reviews but Bikesure are insisting on Datatool!
Thanks for any help

Did BMW explain why they can’t do it?
If it requires a new loom hook up surely you would pay for it and the fitting.

Shouldn't invalidate warranty if it's correctly fitted and any faults can't be attributed to the alarm.
Dealers probably say no because they don't know how to do it !.

Interesting as my dealer fitted the Datatool tracker to all bikes for a period. When I was purchasing my 1300 they only offered Datatool DNA.

The one and only time my 1250 failed I phoned the dealer and they asked did I have a tracker - they immediately knew it was broken and recommended removing it.

I wonder are the dealers maybe wary of these now? not sure.

When I purchased my 1250GSA the Datatool stealth was a nuisance. I spat the dummy with them when the final nuisance call asked me if I was on a ferry as my bike was being tracked twelve miles away in the Solent heading for France.

An agent came and hard wired a new unit into my loom and it has been fine every since.

If I was buying a tracker myself, I’d go for one with 4/5G as well as GPS.

The first dealer said it wont fit and you need to buy a new one at £360. The dealer I subsequently purchased my bike from said they would do it and then found there is a specific model for the R1300, Datatool said it is just the loom and it can be done.

Datatool will come and fit it for £129 but splice into the loom apparently. Seems easy to go that route. Datatool cannot use the BMW loom as it’s a specific part from BMW?

Sorry forgot about this thread. Datatool did indeed come and fit the tracker and spliced it in without using the BMW loom. Sensible solution and seems to work just fine.
