Michael Neeves always makes sense.
I reckon this time next year there’ll be a few on here that just had to upgrade to the Wankenpanzer but then quietly sell it and buy back a 1250.

I don't think it's enough to make me change although as an ex FJR owner, I like the idea of an electric screen even though my 1250's screen stays at max.

I'm hoping that somebody will figure out a way to retro fit the software that lowers the suspension when stopping as that would be a big help for me.

It could be that I’m trying to convince myself that buying the r1250gs Rallye in June was the right decision, but I genuinely think I have (y)

I'm still glad I have changed from the 1250 even after the 3 months I owned the new one. I came back from 3 yeras with the V4s and as mentioned before was glad to go back to the Gs , but always missed the power the V4 had , but the new one has this again , but in a better way than the V4. We must remember that anyhing we read is always subjective and not actually correct as we all have different angles on the riding , technical side of bikes etc etc.
For me I wanted a torgue bike with handling , the 1300 does this better than the 1250 ( great chassis and power) and the V4 ( great chassis but power at the high revs so always up and down the box ) , the Ktm for me was a great motor but shit chassis and just did not work for me even after many test as I like the Ktm brand as raced them for as long as I remember ..
The electronics and new suspension will be a learning curve but one that should be easy as the V4 was , change is change. The cost , yes , its a lot but if you can great.
My riding mate was convinced he would keep his 19 plate 1250 so he could decide after he bought the new one but after a second test ride and the ride back home , sold it the following week as he felt the 1250 has had its day , similar to my thoughts but i have been on a V4 s for the past years and the change was easier , not cheap , but mentally easier to accept the new challenge on a new design bike , with all its probable issues and hopefully fun filled miles as I did with the new V4s when it came out as I had one of the first.
Anyway , lets have a great end of year and look forward to a few post of actual ownership and comments to the good or bad to be ripped apart on this forum , form fellows who take the chance.(y)

It sounds much like trading up from a 1200 to a 1250 but at the expense of losing the more relaxed and plush ride of the 1250, and getting a poorer pillion seat with the 1300. As I didn't find a huge difference between the 1200 and 1250, I'm still perfectly content with my 1200 so won't be joining the queue for the 1300. I prefer the looks of the 1200/1250. I think many owners buy precisely as they don't want a more frenetic sportsbike ride quality. One of the endearing features of the older WC models is that they offered adequate go without sacrificing that more relaxed and comfortable ride. There's plenty of lighter and better suited options for sportier bikes including the latest offerings from Suzuki and BMW (XR and S1000R). I'm just not sure at all, that's what a boxer twin's all about. Others will hold their own views.

Never had the pleasure in riding the older Gs models but had a 2006 , followed by the twin Cam , this was then traded for the 1200 Lc , again beta tested , then the 1250 , beta tested ,now Im going for the full set a 1300 beta testing again.
The 2006 was an introduction to the Gs , well remembered as it gave me an insight into the missed jewel the Bm was . The TC was a great upgrade from the old model and still one of my favorite bikes , but this may be more to the two up tours I did . The Lc1200 was a revalation to the old Tc in the way the bike had been modernised . The 1250 was , for me a nice improvement on the 1200 as it just gave more .
The new 1300 I feel is a bigger step in the overall development of an already great concept and has shown that the platform can be revised , improved and meet the wants of many riders and the old critism of " its just a Gs, and needs more " when compared to the chasing market manufactures. Well done Bm , you kept the heart , sole and drive of the bike , just made it better.

i bought a 1250GSA 2 years ago and have loved it. 22k trouble free miles after coming from (what i thought was the best bike an ATAS).

i actually resisted then wished i had got a 1250 earlier.

is it worth the upgrade? maybe. have i ordered a 1300 cos i want a new bike and life is too short! yes

It says on the MCN review that the 1250gs as tested cost £23360 ??. Can't see how they got to that total unless it was a GSA, or had a lot of extras that aren't mentioned in the article. There's no luggage or anything shown. No Akro on the photo.
Just seems funny to me to say it's £23+k. for the 1250gs?.

No its correct , its the Ultimate 100 £23,500-00 if I remember when I bought mine in July , bare bike no luggage but it does have the Akro. ( bike in shot not the example) If it was a GSA it would look like the fat bloke by the Bar.

When I looked on the configurator back in June a 1250 TE Triple Black was 19,325

But its the ultimate 100 with the Billet pack , the photos with the two bikes shows the Gold Badge on the hand guards Ultimate 100
Yeah I get that and was just replying to @pbbanks. I guess they wanted something approaching the bling on the Tarantula to compare with even though the extra strap ons make no difference to how it rides.

Blimey, when you look at the PCP figures, if you keep the bike at the 3 yr mark you'll pay c£27k for it....hand it back and you've only spent £14700 but walk away empty handed....(stick to the mileage and each one has cost you £1.23...£410pcm incl the deposit) Utter madness IMHO

Yeah but you won’t get that mileage because half the time the fucker won’t start !

Struth! Three years pcp ownership costs you HOW MUCH!? £14,700 buys a damned good used GS or GSA1250, or a nearly spanking new RS (well, ok, a year old one with running in miles).

People are sucked in to a shiny new bike each year...then, unless they sit down and do a grown up thing and have a good 10 minute think....they repeat each 2 to 3 years with the sale bods assuring them it's a great idea and is only an extra £15 a month etc....smoke and mirrors....until anyone sits down and does the maths.

Don't tell them that, they'll start buying the RS instead then BMW will put the price up like they've done to the wankpanzer

Many I suspect are stuck in the PCP cycle, they don't own the bike, can't afford/won't pay the final settlement so their options are limited if they want to carry on biking. The easiest is to just rinse and repeat, which is exactly what BMW/the dealers want.
