Had an 08 GS for a couple of weeks and done quite a few miles and its a completely different style of bike for me
Anyway , has anyone experienced any sort of whining transmission noise under load ? , the strange part being only on left handlers?
It's quite a clunky bike and I could just need earplugs , but its doing my head in .I'll probably run it past the dealer so any information relating to this could be helpful
Thanks in advance:blagblah

You get some transmission noise, but mostly tyre noise similar to Land Rover tyres on Tarmac, unless you are on pure road rubber of course.

It is probably your tyres.

I had some worn Tourances on and the vibration and hum from the front wheel (when turning only) made me change the wheel bearings! New wheel bearing needless to say made no difference but a new tyre cleared the issue.

If you have some version of an "off-road" tyres check if the tread blocks are worn unevenly. I have been through 3 sets of fronts and the same issue happens everytime they wear.

I have now trying a Michelin road tyre which does not have a block pattern but it is still too new to check the results.

If you are worried it might be the final drive add another 200ml of oil into the casing. If the noise changes you have the culprit.

Either way, dont drive too far with it overfilled. Drain the oil and refill with no more than 220ml
