When looking for a charger for a Kodak camcorder I came across this

http://www.digitalmediastore.co.uk/...amcorder_Batteries__AAAAA_White__APW-MAGICW-D

It claims to charge almost ANY camera, camcorder, phone, etc. battery so I bought one as it may save me carrying a lot of chargers and different voltage mains adapters on holiday trips. So far, I am really impressed. I have tried it with two different Panasonic digital cameras, Kodak and JVC camcorders, Blackberry phone and Nikon DSLR + AA cells and it has charged them all.

About the only restrictions are a battery of 3.6 to 7.4 volts which as the + and - connectors on the same side. The charger has a spring loaded cover which clamps just about any small battery in place and charging terminals which can be slid into position to match the battery contacts. There are no settings for which pin is positive or what the voltage is. The charger works that out.

The only battery I have which it wont charge is a Sony camcorder NP-FM50 as this has the contacts at the bottom of small holes and the pins on the charger will not reach. Before the next holiday I think it would be easy to make some adapter pins so these can be charged as well.

It comes with 100 - 240 volt mains "brick" and a car lighter lead. As the charger has a 12v input it is easy to adapt to BMW's DIN socket.

Great site - finally found a replacement cable for my now out of date samsung camera and the charger fits the bill also.

many thanks.

That is a good site. Carrying all the cables and transformers for the gizmos is a royal pain, and if I can charge whilst I am riding so much the better. Only thing is - Amazon sells the same unit for £9.99!

Hahnel also do a couple. The Ultima 2 uses swappable plates and also charges USB devices, but doesn't do AA etc. The nice thing about that one is that it is a fast charger. They also have a universal charger which does AAs, but not USB, and it is relatively slow charging. Hahnel are more expensive tho. Other universal chargers on Amazon around £8-10
