Travel computer and helmet cam.

Rather than lugging a laptop around I was thinking of getting an Archos 5 part No:501128
It looks tough in a metal frame. 60 to 250gb
Pictures, video, wifi email and web.
It also takes a neat helmet cam: gen 6 part no: 501227
The Archos 5 is available but the helmet cam is not. I did an internet search and could not find anyone who has it in stock.

Any experience of these ?

No experience, but was interested so took a look at their website and they seem to have the helemt cam available

I have not a great deal of confidence in the Archos Helmet Camera. I have had 2 pack in, but luckily both were under warranty. Others have reported no problems but I am wary of risking my replaced camera on the bike again. The Microphone is prone to picking up wind noise and not easy to come up with a remedy. Connecting lead between camera and player is a bit short for some locations on the bike.

Quite happy with the Archos Players. The hard drive model does suffer from vibration when using with the camcorder, better off with Solid state memory. I have a 605 4Gb WiFi which I have used with a Helmet Camera on the bike and got some nice footage but camera packed in. Archos cannot play all video/audio formats and you have to pay extra for video and audio plug ins.

The gen 6 helmet cam may be an improvment but it is cheap as chips €72 + VAT
I have a Sony bullet cam which works on DV in. This may work with the Archos 5 and has a seperate mike that can be located out of the wind stream.
